LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Joy Behar’s recent remarks led to a debate among her co-hosts on ‘The View’ recently.

On Thursday, March 6, the TV host claimed that she could be friends with a supporter of President Donald Trump while discussing a scene from ‘The White Lotus’ where old pals reunite and have to confront their political differences, the Daily Mail reported.

Joy Behar says it's hard to be friends with a Trump supporter

During the discussion, Joy Behar told her 'The View' co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, “I could be friends with a Trump supporter, I won't give them a kidney, but I could be friends with them.”

“The thing about it is, it’s not just about politics, it’s about morality, ethics, it’s about cruelty, it’s about discrimination, and it’s about a lot of things, so those are personal human values,” she added.

The comedian further explained that “we’re not really just talking about fiscal conservative, who pay more taxes. We’re talking about you, as a human being, so it’s hard to be friends with someone who signs on to something like that.”

“On the other hand, they're open to discussion. I like to talk to them and find out what exactly do you know about this guy,” the 82-year-old host added.

Alyssa Farah Griffin believes people with different political views can still be pals

Joining the conversation, Behar's co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said, “My friends are very equally split. My best friend is a Democrat, but in our immediate group, we have people who voted for Trump.”

“If you know people to their core, you know their values, and you know why they decided, you can respect them and co-exist with them, supporting somebody you didn’t,” she continued.

Sara Haines also shared her views on the topic as she said, “Growing up where I did, it's very common to know people that vote differently.”

“When you go into their bubbles and see the coverage they’re watching and their families and their churches, they’re not voting on this awful human being that seeing over here, they're voting on the way it’s captured with their own beliefs,” she noted.

Sunny Hostin slams ‘Trumplican party’

However, Sunny Hostin made her points clearer as she slammed today’s Republican Party.

She claimed, “We're in abnormal times. This is not the Republican party of yesterday. It's the Trumplican party in so many respects. So extreme.”

“And if someone is voting for someone that is hurting members of our community, our elderly, our children, I do have a hard time being friends with that person,” the 56-year-old lawyer added.
