Susan Wojcicki's husband, Dennis Troper, shared the heartbreaking news in a public Facebook post, expressing the profound impact Wojcicki had on those around her.

"It is with profound sadness that I share the news of Susan Wojcicki passing. My beloved wife of 26 years and mother to our five children left us today after 2 years of living with non-small cell lung cancer," Troper wrote.

"Susan was not just my best friend and partner in life, but a brilliant mind, a loving mother, and a dear friend to many. Her impact on our family and the world was immeasurable. We are heartbroken, but grateful for the time we had with her. Please keep our family in your thoughts as we navigate this difficult time," he added.

Wojcicki's career at Google began in 1999 when she became the company's 16th employee. As the first marketing executive, she was instrumental in shaping Google's early strategy and success.

Wojcicki's garage in Menlo Park, California, became the birthplace of Google, where co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin initially operated their fledgling search engine.

Her influence on the company was profound, as she helped secure the first licensing deals for Google's search technology and spearheaded the development of Google Image Search.

In 2005, Wojcicki took the lead in launching Google Video, a precursor to the company's later acquisition of YouTube.

Just a year later, in 2006, she was instrumental in overseeing Google's $1.65 billion purchase of YouTube, a move that would forever change the landscape of online video and solidify YouTube's place as a dominant platform in the digital age.

In February 2023, Wojcicki stepped down as YouTube's CEO, transitioning to an advisory role at Google.

Neal Mohan, who succeeded her, expressed his deep admiration for Wojcicki, stating, "I had the good fortune of meeting Susan 17 years ago when she was the architect of the DoubleClick acquisition. Her legacy lives on in everything she touched at Google and YouTube. I am forever grateful for her friendship and guidance. I will miss her tremendously.
