Swifties blast 'fraud' Scott Borchetta as he shares post honoring Taylor Swift after selling her masters
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Scott Borchetta's recent tribute to Taylor Swift didn't sit well with the pop star's massive fanbase.
Their anger stems from the fact that the record executive sold the 'Lover' singer's masters to Scooter Braun without her approval during the Hybe America CEO's $330 million acquisition of Big Machine Records Group in June 2019.

Taylor Swift called out Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun over masters dispute
On learning about Scott Borchetta selling the masters of her first six studio albums to Scooter Braun, Taylor Swift took to Tumblr to express her frustration.
Accusing Braun of "bullying" her on social media, the pop star wrote, "For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead, I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in."
She added, "I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future. I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums."
"Some fun facts about today’s news: I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years," noted the 'Love Story' singer.
"This is my worst-case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept. And when that man says ‘Music has value’, he means its value is beholden to men who had no part in creating it," further expressed Swift.
However, Jake Basden, who was at that time the Senior Vice President of Communications at Big Machine Label Group, told CNN, "Out of courtesy, I personally texted Taylor at 9.06 pm, June 29 to inform her prior to the story breaking on the morning of June 30 so she could hear it directly from me."
He added, "I truly doubt that she woke up to the news when everyone else did."
Swift has since rerecorded several of the albums and released them between 2021 and 2023.
