NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: During the vice presidential debate on Tuesday, October 1, Tim Walz showcased Taylor Swift-inspired friendship bracelets, instantly recognizable to fans of the pop icon, as per People.

The Minnesota Governor sported the bracelet on his right wrist while facing off against his Republican rival, Ohio Senator JD Vance, at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City.

It remains uncertain whether the bracelet was part of the official merchandise from the Harris-Walz campaign, which was added to the official website's catalog after Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris following last month’s presidential debate.

The friendship bracelet trend among Swifties is inspired by her song, 'You're on Your Own, Kid', which includes the line, "So make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it."

As Swift set out on her record-breaking Eras Tour, some of her fans suggested that they exchange friendship bracelets while attending the concerts, and soon it turned into a global trend.

In his closing statements, Tim Walz infused the debate with references from the entertainment world, acknowledging the audience's interests beyond politics.

"Thank you to all of you, if you’re still up, and the folks who missed 'Dancing with the Stars', I appreciate it," said the Democrat, referring to the popular ABC reality show that was postponed to next week because of the faceoff.

Walz emphasized the importance of supporting democracy, linking various political figures and pop culture icons.

"I’m as surprised as anybody by this coalition that Kamala Harris has built, from Bernie Sanders to Dick Cheney to Taylor Swift, and a whole bunch of folks in between," stated the former coach, adding, "They believe in a positive future for this country, and one where our politics can be better than it is."

Walz concluded by urging Americans to join the movement and vote for the Democratic ticket, noting that Harris is "bringing a politics of joy."
