Donald Trump faces heat over his Taylor Swift-inspired merch amid singer’s Kamala Harris endorsement
WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump ignited backlash from Swifties by releasing new merchandise inspired by Taylor Swift following her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.
The GOP presidential nominee, who clarified earlier this week on Fox News that he was "not a Taylor Swift fan," nevertheless saw his campaign launch "Make America Great Again" T-shirts resembling Swift's Eras Tour merchandise., as per Rolling Stone.
The official Team Trump account promoted the apparel in an X (formerly Twitter) post on Thursday, September 12. The caption read, “Calling all Swifties for Trump! Get your Trump Era shirt today,” along with a website link to the ex-president’s WinRed campaign platform.
"LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO..." read the caption on the campaign website featuring the product.

Donald Trump copies Taylor Swift's Eras Tour T-shirt merchandise
Donald Trump's new merchandise closely resembled the design of Taylor Swift’s 'Anti-Hero' Eras Tour merchandise.
The white T-shirt featured a grid of images of Donald Trump with a larger central image of him. Below the grid, his name and the campaign slogan "Make America Great Again" were inscribed.

In the original design, the grid featured Taylor Swift's pictures from her album eras. Trump adopted the same color scheme but replaced Swift's 'Fearless' era image with his infamous mugshot.
Swift, who remained silent throughout the chaotic election developments, revealed her plans to vote for Harris following the candidates' ABC News debate.
Announcing her endorsement via Instagram, the Grammy winner praised Vice President Kamala Harris as a "steady-handed, gifted leader." She also disclosed that a misleading AI image on Trump's site, falsely suggesting her endorsement, prompted her to clarify her voting intentions for the upcoming November election.
The phrase "Swifties for Trump" gained traction alongside the false AI image. The MAGA leader's merchandise post appeared to be a jab at the "Swifties for Kamala," a group dedicated to supporting Harris in the upcoming election.

After Harris' endorsement, Trump also warned Swift that she might "probably pay a price for it in the marketplace."
The 'Bad Blood' singer, known for her opposition to the 45th President, supported President Joe Biden in 2020.
Donald Trump's Taylor Swift-inspired merchandise sparks outrage among Swifties
Swifties took to social media to criticize Donald Trump for copying their icon’s merchandise for his campaign. Many accused him of lacking originality, and some even suggested Taylor Swift should consider legal action.
"How can one man be so pathetically needy?" a user asked.
"Hey, @taylorswift13, I hope your attorneys file suit today. Maybe the trumpty dumpties who are trying to profit off your work can be forced to pay the disgorgement money to the #HarrisWalz campaign? Honestly, Trump and his people don't have original ideas! SAD!" another remarked.

"Hopefully, she’ll sue and take the last 5$ from your stupid campaign," read a third response.
"LOL, this is desperation! Trump trying to profit off Taylor Swift's popularity and VP Harris' endorsement is a new low. Swifties won't be fooled by this tacky merch. Taylor's endorsement was about supporting a leader, not a liar," an individual added.
"Never an original concept from these people. They're only there for the money, no idea how to do the actual job. Cheat, plagiarize, steal anything from ideas to artwork," someone else said.

"What a vile & petty child. I will never understand how anyone can think this is a serious person ready to resolve serious issues," wrote a user.
"This guy doesn’t have an original thought in his head, and has to steal and copy the ideas and intellectual property of people who have original ideas. What a loser," another user added.
"What a weirdo. First he tried to steal Taylor Swift's endorsement, now he's trying to steal her aesthetic. What a loser, like get your own aesthetic--or does no one want your fake gold-gilding anymore?" read one remark.
