LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sources are now speaking out about the recent breakup between Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino, who have called off their relationship.

The couple, who were first linked in the fall of 2018 and got engaged in 2022, have been making headlines after rumors of their split began circulating in early March.

Reports claimed that Sweeney had postponed her wedding to the 41-year-old Davino, originally set for May.

Sources close to Sydney Sweeney have revealed to PEOPLE that the actress is currently prioritizing her career. In recent weeks, questions about whether she and her fiance, Jonathan Davino, were still engaged began to surface after reports indicated that Sweeney had been living separately from Davino.

An insider confirmed that their relationship had been "rocky for a long time."

On Monday, March 31, a source told the outlet that Sweeney, 27, is fully immersed in her work following the end of her engagement.

"She's exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She's all about working right now and very excited about all her projects," the source shared.

However, the source also noted that Sweeney felt overwhelmed by her relationship and wedding plans. "What did make her overwhelmed though was her relationship and her wedding. She didn't feel right about it."

At this point in her life, Sweeney is focused on her "magical career", one she could have only dreamed of a few years ago. "This is what she wants to focus on right now," the source added.

"She's not ready to settle down," the insider explained, revealing that their breakup wasn’t due to a lack of love, but rather Sweeney’s desire to channel her energy into her career.

"They only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off. They didn't split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now."

However, she recently sparked some confusion among fans when she reunited with her 'Anyone But You' co-star Glen Powell to attend his sister’s wedding in Texas.

Sweeney, who typically keeps her personal life under wraps, has opened up about maintaining privacy.
