Sydney Sweeney's team hits back at Carol Baum, calls criticism on her looks and acting skills 'shameful'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sydney Sweeney's team has fired back after Hollywood producer Carol Baum criticized the actress claiming she is "not pretty" and "can't act."
On Wednesday, April 17, a representative for Sweeney said, "How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman."

Sydney Sweeney's representative says Carol Baum degraded a fellow female producer
Speaking to the New York Post, the 'Euphoria' star's representative said, “If that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful."
"To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms Baum’s character,” the spokesperson added.
The team blasted Baum's criticism after she reportedly said Sweeney is "not pretty, she can’t act. I don’t get Sydney Sweeney."
The producer, whose work includes 'Shining Through' and 'Father of the Bride', made the comments last week at the Jacob Burns Center in Pleasantville, New York, while speaking to film critic Janet Maslin.

Carol Baum says Sydney Sweeney's new romcom is 'unwatchable'
Baum further opined that Sweeney's romcom 'Anyone But You' is "unwatchable."
“I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’s talking about her,” she reportedly said.
Recalling a conversation she had with the students at The University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, Baum said, “I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’”.
"Nobody had an answer," the producer added.

Maslin, the event moderator, confirmed Baum's critical review of 'Anyone But You' following the screening.
“It IS unwatchable,” she said of the 2023 film in which Sweeney starred opposite Glen Powell.
“Carol Baum said this after we screened ‘Dead Ringers’ at the Jacob Burns Film Center and she mentioned having seen ‘Anyone But You’ on a plane," Maslin wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
"But “Dead Ringers,” b/o a book Baum optioned 10 years before David Cronenberg adapted it, gets better and better,” she added.

Referring to Sweeney, Baum also shared that she was asked "Well if you could get your movie made because she was in it, would you do it?"
"I said, 'Well that's a really good question...that's a very hard question to answer because we all want to get the movie made and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know. Your job is to get the movie made'," she said.
