LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The recent BET Awards ceremony was filled with entertainment, glamour, and controversy, especially when host Taraji P Henson and comedian B Simone took shots at former President Donald Trump's controversial remark about "Black jobs," as per HuffPost.

On June 27, a CNN presidential debate between President Joe Biden and Trump became a cultural phenomenon, with discussions dominating various aspects of popular culture.

The debate, infamous for its heated exchanges and controversial statements, left a lasting impression that even made its way to the BET Awards. During the debate, Trump claimed that immigrants were "taking Black jobs," a statement widely criticized and debunked by economists from various political backgrounds.

Trump said, "They’re taking Black jobs now and it could be 18, it could be 19 and even 20 million people. They’re taking Black jobs and they’re taking Hispanic jobs and you haven’t seen it yet but you’re going to see something that’s going to be the worst in our history."

This assertion quickly became a topic of conversation, with many pointing out the lack of evidence to support such claims. The discourse around this statement set the stage for the BET Awards, where Henson and Simone didn’t hold back in their critique.

Henson, known for her sharp wit and engaging presence, opened the BET Awards with a parody of Kendrick Lamar’s hit 'Not Like Us.' Donning a red hoodie in homage to Lamar, Henson altered the lyrics to emphasize unity, singing, "It’s about us." This set the tone for her pointed monologue.

Henson didn’t waste any time addressing Trump’s "Black jobs" comment. "This is a show packed full of all-stars with Black jobs. Whatever that means. But clearly we know there’s a difference – thanks for the info, but we already knew it," she said with a dry delivery.

Henson's monologue continued with a call to action, urging the audience to vote in the upcoming November elections. "I’m telling y’all, you better show up and show out with them ballots. It’s a serious time. It’s not just the presidential election," she emphasized.

Later in the show, Simone took the stage and turned Trump’s comment into a comedic segment, asking the audience if jobs like TSA agent, TV judge, and hairstylist were "Black jobs." The intention was to mock the absurdity of Trump’s claim, but the execution did not sit well with many viewers.
