Taylor Swift appears to take a dig at Kanye West in throwback handwritten note to Ed Sheeran

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A resurfaced photo from 2013 has reminded fans that Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran are not only true friends but the pop star is a queen of subtle shade.
Attached to a jar of homemade jam Swift gifted to Sheeran more than a decade ago, the pop icon penned a note that cheekily referenced one of the most infamous moments in pop culture history: Kanye West’s interruption of her 2009 MTV VMA acceptance speech.
Taylor Swift’s throwback note to Ed Sheeran reignites Kanye West feud memories
“Yo Ed — I’m really happy 4 you and I’m gonna let you finish but this is the best jam of all-time. — T,” Swift wrote, playing off West’s now-legendary line, “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.”
The note, a sugary blend of kindness and comedy, made the rounds back in 2013 when Sheeran first posted a photo of the gift, Page Six reported.
But he reposted it on April 2 of this year as part of a nostalgic series of photos pulled from an old phone he stopped using in 2015.

“It was pretty good jam,” Sheeran quipped in his caption, prompting a flurry of comments from fans thrilled by the long-forgotten detail, and the expertly delivered shade.
Swift’s homemade gift and witty note came during a tense period in her on-and-off feud with West.
What started at the 2009 VMAs snowballed into a years-long back-and-forth between the two artists, with veiled (and not-so-veiled) disses flying in both directions.
Swift’s 2010 ballad “Innocent” was widely interpreted as a response to the incident, while West’s 2016 track 'Famous' reignited the controversy with lyrics that referenced Swift in crude fashion.
For Ed Sheeran he opened up about how rediscovering those old memories inspired his new song.

“I found old photos of me with people I was so close to then, but we’ve lost touch since,” Sheeran allegedly wrote.
“The whole experience was such an emotional journey. I wrote the song ‘Old Phone’ on my own at 2am whilst jet lagged in India finishing the album, and recorded it that morning.”
