Taylor Swift's ex-BF Matty Healy under fire after he threatens to 'slap' musician Azealia Banks

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Matthew "Matty" Healy, frontman of The 1975 pop band and Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend, recently became embroiled in a heated online argument with musician Azealia Banks.

The dispute escalated when Healy threatened to "slap" Azealia Banks in a since-deleted post on X, formerly Twitter, before issuing an apology. However, the row continues.

The exchange started when Azealia Banks commented on '365' singer, Charli XCX, writing, “Charli used to be sooo pretty. Ugh.”

Healy, in defense of Charli, replied, “All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive, and NICE people.”

He also suggested Banks might be jealous, adding, “I think this makes you jealous cos you’re so talented but everything else about you is a failure. Just rap bro.”

Banks responded cryptically, saying, “I still don’t know any of your music but make sure you keep all that s*** behind your keyboard.”

She then issued a veiled threat, adding, “This is hip-hop, and you are very easy to set up...," Banks wrote as Independent noted. 

Matty Healy deletes threatening post, apologizes later

Matty Healy's initial response escalated when he replied to Azealia Banks, threatening, “I’ll f*****g slap you so hard I’ll get a Guinness world record...,” a post he later deleted.

He later apologized, writing, “Nah I can’t be saying I’m gonna hit a girl that’s insane I’m sorry. You just can’t keep being so mean about my mates and my mrs it’s really hurtful gets me well defensive.”

In another post, Healy acknowledged, “Ok I’m gonna delete that tweet that was not cool even if I was angry.”

Azealia Banks continues to slam Matty Healy

Despite the apology, Azealia Banks continued with her backlash, threatening legal action.

“He’s going to pay for every last word of it because enough is enough,” she wrote in one of the several X posts.

Banks also doubled down on her critique of Charli, stating, “And I said what the f**k I said. Charli has horrible f*****g plastic surgery. Period. Do something.”

Banks also shared screenshots of DM's from Healy. One showed him admitting to losing his temper, but Banks retorted, “Lost ur temper? Who was even talking to you in the first place?”

Notably, Healy and Banks’ feud dates back to May 2023, when Banks accused him of being “racist” following his relationship with Swift, according to the Independent. Meanwhile, Banks continues to lash at Healy.
