LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After years of rerecordings, legal maneuvering, and heartbreak, Taylor Swift has officially taken back what she once called her "life’s work."

According to a Billboard report, the pop sensation recently purchased her original master recordings for an estimated $360 million, regaining ownership of the six albums that launched her into global stardom.

Taylor Swift has been 'bursting into tears of joy' at random intervals after buying back her master recordings

The catalog was sold to her by Shamrock Capital, a private equity firm that acquired it in 2020 from music executive Scooter Braun, who had infamously obtained it a year earlier through his purchase of Big Machine Records. At the time, Swift described the move as “sad and gross,” accusing Braun of denying her the chance to purchase the masters herself.

This week, the 35-year-old singer announced the monumental acquisition through a heartfelt message on her official website.

“All the music I’ve ever made… now belongs to me,” she wrote in a stylized, handwritten letter, expressing overwhelming gratitude and disbelief. “I’ve been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening.”

Swift also celebrated her victory by sharing photos of herself with vinyl copies of her first six albums on Instagram, writing, "You belong with me. 💚💛💜❤️🩵🖤."

Swift had spent the last few years rerecording and rereleasing her early albums as "Taylor’s Versions."

Braun responded diplomatically to the news, telling Page Six he is “happy for her.”

When it comes to the long-awaited 'Reputation (Taylor’s Version)', Swift was honest with fans. She admitted she’s barely “even re-recorded a quarter of it.” Still, she reassured everyone that both 'Reputation' and her self-titled debut album “can still have their moment to re-emerge when the time is right.”

The news that Taylor Swift has officially bought back her original master recordings for $360 million is sending shockwaves across the internet, and fans are calling it a massive win for artists everywhere.

One celebrated the milestone, writing, “Like I know it was $500M+ before, but it should’ve been $0 because it was literally hers and she was blindsided.”

Another added, “After this deal, Taylor has got complete freedom over her music, which is being considered a big victory for the artists.”

The emotional outpouring continued with fans expressing pride and joy. “I don’t know how to express the amount of happiness I am feeling for Tay. I am beyond proud of her,” a person stated.

Others pointed out the financial upside, with one writing, “Taylor going to make that up instantly. The downloads for her album going on now.”

Another fan said, “Wait this is very good?? Like they are worth way more than that,” while one more wrote, “Damn that’s not even that much! You know what, good for her.”
