Teddi Mellencamp cries 'tears of joy' after recent melanoma checkup shows nothing 'abnormal'
BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Teddi Mellencamp has recently celebrated a major milestone in her ongoing health journey with stage 2 melanoma.
The 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' alum shared uplifting news on December 16, revealing that for the first time in over two years, she did not need a biopsy following her routine three-month skin check.

In an emotional Instagram video, the 43-year-old said, “I just got done having a little cry, but it’s a good one. It’s the first time, and over two years, I’ve gone in for my three-month check and not had to have a biopsy because I have another cancer spot.”
Clearly stunned by the positive outcome, Teddi Mellencamp added, “My doctor and I looked at each other and said, ‘What?’” The relief in her voice was evident as she reflected, “Oh my gosh, such a good feeling.”

She went on to share that her next appointment is scheduled for March, where she’ll continue her vigilant three-month checks.
Mellencamp, who recently filed for divorce from Edwin Arroyave on November 1, 2024, took a moment to encourage her followers to prioritize their own health, using her platform to advocate for preventive care.
“This should be a reminder to all of you guys, please, please, book your skin checks, book your mammograms, book your OBGYN appointments, book your eye doctor appointments,” she urged.

In the caption accompanying her video, Teddi Mellencamp opened up on the emotional toll of her frequent checkups, People reported.
“The anxiety always takes over; the thought of another biopsy, another surgery, another addition to the scar on my back,” she wrote candidly in the recent post.
“And I always end up crying. But today the tears were those of joy. Because for the first time, there wasn’t anything abnormal, nothing that needed an extra look. And I am grateful,” she added.
She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her team of doctors, nurses, loved ones, and her supportive followers, writing, “As long as you’re here, I have a reason to keep advocating for myself and for others.”
Mellencamp also included a photo of her scars from previous surgeries, showcasing the resilience of her healing body.
“Scar update. What incredible doctors and nurses I have had throughout these surgeries. Over 1000 stitches later. Get your skin checked please,” she reminded fans.
"And if you need to get your skin checked but have yet to make an appointment… what are you waiting for?," she concluded.
Teddi Mellencamp has ‘17 spots removed and counting' during her melanoma journey
The mother-of-three has been open about her melanoma journey, sharing both the challenges and victories with her audience.
In July, Teddi Mellencamp revealed that she had to undergo yet another procedure to remove two more suspicious spots.

Earlier that year, in April, she had a melanoma spot surgically removed for the 15th time.
Since then, Mellencamp — who was first diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in October 2022 — has been open about starting an immunotherapy cream as a part of her treatment plan.

At the time, Mellencamp admitted she was nervous before every skin check, but expressed gratitude to her medical team for detecting the growths early.
“They caught these within 90 days and [in] earlier stages,” she said.
Her message carried added weight given her years-long battle with melanoma.

After being diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022, Mellencamp underwent numerous surgeries to remove cancerous growths, ultimately having 17 spots taken off her skin.
In December 2023, she revealed in an Instagram story that immunotherapy had been unsuccessful in her treatment, making early detection through skin checks all the more critical.
