In an emotional Instagram video, the 43-year-old said, “I just got done having a little cry, but it’s a good one. It’s the first time, and over two years, I’ve gone in for my three-month check and not had to have a biopsy because I have another cancer spot.”

She went on to share that her next appointment is scheduled for March, where she’ll continue her vigilant three-month checks.

Mellencamp, who recently filed for divorce from Edwin Arroyave on November 1, 2024, took a moment to encourage her followers to prioritize their own health, using her platform to advocate for preventive care.

“This should be a reminder to all of you guys, please, please, book your skin checks, book your mammograms, book your OBGYN appointments, book your eye doctor appointments,” she urged.

“And I always end up crying. But today the tears were those of joy. Because for the first time, there wasn’t anything abnormal, nothing that needed an extra look. And I am grateful,” she added.

She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her team of doctors, nurses, loved ones, and her supportive followers, writing, “As long as you’re here, I have a reason to keep advocating for myself and for others.”

"And if you need to get your skin checked but have yet to make an appointment… what are you waiting for?," she concluded.

Earlier that year, in April, she had a melanoma spot surgically removed for the 15th time.

At the time, Mellencamp admitted she was nervous before every skin check, but expressed gratitude to her medical team for detecting the growths early.

“They caught these within 90 days and [in] earlier stages,” she said.

Her message carried added weight given her years-long battle with melanoma.

After being diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022, Mellencamp underwent numerous surgeries to remove cancerous growths, ultimately having 17 spots taken off her skin.

In December 2023, she revealed in an Instagram story that immunotherapy had been unsuccessful in her treatment, making early detection through skin checks all the more critical.
