A CT scan and MRI revealed several tumors, which doctors suspect had been developing for at least six months, US Weekly reported.

Mellencamp, who has been open about her past health battles, confirmed that two tumors would be  “surgically removed today” and that the “remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date.”

Despite facing this unexpected health crisis, Mellencamp remains optimistic. She credited her family, friends, and medical team for keeping her strong, adding, "I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health."

This news comes during a turbulent period in Mellencamp’s life, as she navigates a public divorce from her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave. The couple shares three children, and she is also a stepmother to Arroyave’s eldest daughter.

Mellencamp has faced major health struggles before, including a battle with stage II melanoma, which led to multiple surgeries and treatments over the past two years.
