Teddi Mellencamp reveals dad John is already planning for her burial amid cancer battle

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the Tuesday, April 8 episode of her 'Two Ts in a Pod' podcast, Teddi Mellencamp shared a deeply personal, and unexpectedly morbid, moment with her famous father, rocker John Mellencamp.

Teddi, who is currently battling stage 4 cancer, recalled receiving multiple phone calls from her father about her burial plan, Page Six reported.

"Finally, I answer, I’m like, 'I’m in the bath. Let me live a little,'" the 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' alum said about her father calling her constantly. 

But John wasn’t calling just to check in. His reason was both heartfelt and heavy.

"He goes, 'I just want to make sure you’re going to be in our group family mausoleum,'" Teddi revealed.

The 43-year-old reality star said the conversation naturally led to concerns about where her three children, Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, five, would fit into this family resting place.

"He’s like, 'Well, there’s going to be the top five and then we’re gonna have little areas around it, and then that’s where everyone’s going to get buried,'" she explained. "He goes, 'You’re doing your will right now, so you may as well put it in there.'"

Though initially taken aback, Teddi ultimately agreed and even lightened the mood with a bit of humor, telling her co-host Tamra Judge that the phrase "Hot girls never die" would be engraved on her tombstone.

Teddi Mellencamp's health journey has been anything but easy. After her initial skin cancer diagnosis in 2022, doctors discovered this February that her melanoma had spread to her brain.

She was rushed into surgery to have four tumors removed, tumors that doctors believed had been growing silently for at least six months. Since then, additional tumors have been discovered in both her brain and lungs.

"These are all a direct result of my melanoma," she shared on Instagram in March.

Despite the severity of her condition, Teddi remains resilient and focused on her loved ones.

"I’m fighting for my life, but also for my family’s life and all the people I love," she told Us Weekly in a recent interview.

She added that cancer is "definitely the hardest thing" she has ever had to face.

The realy TV star shares her three children with estranged husband Edwin Arroyave. 

They ended their nearly 14-year-long marriage in October 2024, adding another emotional layer to an already challenging time.
