Internet in stitches as Nikki Haley keeps composure during Jake Tapper's hilarious slip-up on 'The Lead'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In an amusing twist of television events, Nikki Haley maintained her composure during an awkward moment on the March 4th episode of 'The Lead' with CNN's Jake Tapper.
The incident occurred while they were discussing the US Supreme Court's decision to permit Donald Trump to appear on the 2024 presidential primary ballot in Colorado.
Supreme Court ruling spurs chuckles after slip of the tongue on The Lead
Adding context, the ruling determined that Colorado was unable to prevent Trump from being listed on the presidential ballot.
This decision countered the state supreme court's previous ruling, which deemed the former president ineligible due to his violation of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
In light of the event, the former governor of South Carolina revealed, "I was very happy with the Supreme Court ruling."
"Look, I’m trying to defeat Donald Trump fair and square. I don’t need them taking him off the ballot to do it," she added.

Tapper responded, "Right, the Colorado Supreme Court, of course, wasn’t saying – however partisan people might have thought that decision was – their official explanation was not they didn’t like Donald Trump. They said he participated in an erection and I have to— insurrection. Sorry. An insurrection."
"And I have to say, I got up at five this morning to do Kasie Hunt’s show and I’m exhausted," he added.
Despite the news anchor's stumble, Haley maintained her composure. However, she couldn't suppress a chuckle when Tapper, with a touch of embarrassment, admitted to feeling "exhausted" from waking up early that morning.
Interestingly, this wasn't the first instance of such a mix-up. In early 2021, Chuck Schumer made a similar slip-up when discussing the events of the January 6th Capitol riots.
"There will be a trial," he said back then, adding, "And when that trial ends, senators will have to decide if they believe Donald John Trump incited the erection… insurrection… against the United States."
Tapper's slip brings unexpected laughter to CNN viewers
As previously reported, Trump is currently confronting a total of 91 felony counts spread across four indictments in New York, Florida, Georgia, and Washington DC.
On August 1, 2023, the 77-year-old was indicted for the third time, this instance for his role in efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
Charges against him included conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct justice, obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy against the rights of American citizens related to their voting rights.
On a different note, Tapper's amusing lip-slip, a moment of unintended humor, elicited uproarious laughter and amusement from the viewers.
Many couldn't contain their amusement and rushed to the comment section, writing, "Looks like CNN's autocorrect needs a little nap."
"Think he participated in both!!" another hilariously made a statement.
A few other people commented, "Doubtful. Bahaha" and "Oh, he did that too," while another said, "That would be news - to Stormy Daniels,"
Another viewer observed, "Trump hasn’t participated in that in YEARS."
