The Rock reacts to influencer’s video mocking him for selling shampoo despite being bald
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson had a fitting reply to an influencer’s video in which she made fun of him for selling shampoo despite being bald.
On Tuesday, June 2, Katy Napier (@happyyellowco) took to TikTok and posted a video of herself seeing bottles of Papatui shampoo in a store. She showed the product bottles and a life-size photo of The Rock smiling as she commented, “Don't give up on your dreams.”
“The Rock is selling shampoo and conditioner, and he's bald. Go for it,” she added in her post, which has garnered millions of likes.
The Rock calls himself 'a Demigod' as he responds to influencer's video mocking him
‘The Smashing Machine’ star responded to the viral TikTok video in his own way on June 5 as he stitched her video on his Instagram post. Also, just like his ‘Moana’ movie character Maui, he wore his long locks and smiled at the camera without saying a word.
He, however, captioned the social media post as “Ok this made me belly laugh.. HARD 😂😂😂 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 🤜🏾🤛🏻.”
“And hey, sometimes a Demigod’s radiant and ravishing hair needs shampoo/conditioner 😜🪝 You’re Welcooooome 🎶 Love ~ Maui 🪝 ps ~ I got a little gift coming your way, @happyyellowco 😉🥂,” The Rock added.
The Rock's Papatui brand got inspiration from his Samoan background
The star launched Papatui at Target in 2024. At the time, he revealed the meaning behind his brand’s name.
“My grandfather was one of my heroes. He was strikingly handsome, had beautiful skin, was well-groomed, and always smelled incredible. He was loved and respected by everyone, and on top of all that – he was also tough as hell,” he said.
Further explaining, The Rock added, “His nickname for me was ‘Tui.’ And ‘papa’ which translates to ‘rock’ in Samoan, also comes from my most important and protected role, which is father to my three daughters. I wanted to honor these anchors in my life. Thus, Papatui.”
The Rock shared reason to launch men's personal care brand
The professional wrestler also spoke with PEOPLE at the time as he disclosed what made him launch a men's personal care brand.
He shared, “I found over the years as men, we can have these great conversations about working out, recovery, ice baths, saunas, and we can talk about trucks and cheat meals and tequila and our favorite movies.”
“But every conversation I would have regarding skincare, I was always pulled to the side privately, like, 'Hey, can I ask you a question? What do you do for your skin?’ So many times I would say, 'Dude, why are we whispering [about skincare]? It's okay. We should be able to have this open conversation.' Papatui has allowed me to encourage just a more open, greater conversation about skincare and grooming,” The 2016 PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive added.
