LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans of 'The Simpsons' believe the animated show had predicted the wildfires raging through Southern California at the start of 2025 almost two decades ago, The Mirror US reported on Friday, January 10.

As the longest-running scripted television show in the history of the United States, 'The Simpsons' is known to have foreshadowed global events, such as business tycoon Donald Trump becoming POTUS, and the cost of living crisis in the United Kingdom.

The wildfires in California that have left the areas in and around Los Angeles in ruins have already started to evoke conspiracy theories, and 'The Simpsons' is another addition to them.

Multiple wildfires fueled by intense Santa Ana Winds are burning across Los Angeles County. At least five people have been killed, and over 25,000 acres have burned. Over 2,000 structures have also burned and almost 180,000 people are under orders to evacuate. (Photo by Apu Gomes/Getty Images)

Linking the 2025 California wildfires to 'The Simpsons'

The claim that 'The Simpsons' predicted the fires in Los Angeles was first made on the social media platform TikTok by a user with the handle @twinski.tv.

Breaking down an episode of the early 2000s, the narrator shared in the clip, "In Episode 12 of Season 18 titled 'Little Big Girl', Springfield faces a devastating wildfire that threatens the town and its residents."

The narrator went on to add about the 2007 episode, “Bart, in one of his pranks, ends up causing a fire that quickly spirals out of control, highlighting the vulnerability of communities in the face of natural disasters.”

“The scenes in this episode are eerily similar to recent events. Wildfires spreading across various regions, property destruction, and the relentless efforts of firefighters to contain the flames," they continued, ending the clip by asking whether the resemblance was a "coincidence or yet another unsettling prediction?”

Internet unsettled by 'The Simpsons' prediction claim

The TikTok clip went viral across social media platforms, with netizens backing up the claim. Those reacting to the clip on the social media platform X admitted being unsettled by the claim, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"The Simpsons are freaking me out wayyyy tooo much about 2025," wrote a user.

"It seems that the Simpsons have a time machine," shared another.

"No such thing as coincidence," quipped a third.

"It’s not prophecy it’s planning," alleged one user.

"Yikes. What Simpson prediction is next?" asked another.

"We're not paying close enough attention to the Simpsons, clearly!" exclaimed yet another.

"Anyone think these Simpsons are made once something happens? All too convenient. I know about the Illuminati card game…but just seems like it’s TOO spot on," voiced one user.
