NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' hosts came to Selena Gomez's defense during a recent episode of the show and said that it is nobody's business to criticize her body.

Gomez was the topic of a recent Glamour op-ed titled "It’s Okay to Feel Hurt When Celebrities Lose Weight—but Let’s Unpack It" which discussed how the actress' "visibly slimmer appearance" at the 2025 SAG Awards "sparked a wave of reactions from fans," as per E! News.

Joy Behar said that the issue only affects female celebrities as she pointed to the non-existent backlash Al Sharpton received when he dropped weight.

Agreeing with Behar, Sunny Hostin added that the "cult of celebrity" was partially to be blamed. She noted, "Why look to a complete stranger for inspiration? You don’t know what’s going on in that person’s life."

Hostin expressed that celebrities like Gomez could have slimmed down for their health, to which Whoopi Goldberg interjected with, "It’s none of your business!"

The EGOT winner said, "Listen, everybody makes their choice in life. If I have to be concerned that you are upset with me, you’re thinking, ‘Oh, you and I have a connection.’ You don’t realize there are 10,000 other people who are yelling the same stuff at me."

Goldberg has been open about her weight loss on the talk show. During a March 2024 episode, she revealed that she took the weight loss drug Mounjaro.

She said, "I will tell you, I weighed almost 300 pounds when I made 'Till.'"

She revealed that she gained weight after taking steroids for an illness and mentioned that "one of the things that’s helped me drop the weight is … Mounjaro," per the outlet.

Internet sides with 'The View' hosts as they defend Selena Gomez

Netizens resonated with 'The View' hosts' comments about the constant speculation surrounding Selena Gomez's apparent weight loss.

One wrote, "Who cares how and why she lost a lot of weight !! She looks fabulous !!" and another added, "PERIOD. I am so sick of people commenting on people’s weight. Like pls."

A person expressed, "Absolutely none of our business. Selena is always beautiful, inside and out," whereas someone else mentioned, "People know weights fluctuate throughout all stages of life and periods illness/wellness right? There’s so many more interesting things to discuss about someone."

"When her body changes, people complain, when she loses weight people complain, like what do people actually want," an individual shared, while one more added, "I'm sure she's one of us, tired of so much hate towards Selena that she needs to come out and make it clear to people that they can go f*** themselves."
