'The View' co-host Whoopi Goldberg trolled as she sides with Elon Musk over RFK Jr's view on Ozempic
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Whoopi Goldberg and other 'The View' co-hosts agreed with billionaire Elon Musk’s opinion on the weight loss drug Ozempic on Thursday, December 12. It is a position that clashes with Health and Human Services Secretary-designate Robert F Kennedy Jr's stance.
Notably, Musk is one of President-elect Donald Trump’s closest confidants and he has expressed his support for more widespread use of Ozempic to bring down the US' obesity epidemic, whereas RFK Jr has argued that getting people to eat healthier would be more cost-effective, according to the New York Post.

Whoopi Goldberg and 'The View' co-hosts side with Elon Musk's view on Ozempic
During the show, Whoopi Goldberg said, "Elon’s right on this!" while echoing co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin after a discussion on the division between the incoming DOGE chief and HHS secretary.
Moreover, Goldberg showed off her figure after revealing that she weighed close to 300 pounds two years back before she started taking Mounjaro, which is a GLP inhibitor like Ozempic.

Notably, GLP inhibitors are a type of drug that helps people regulate their blood glucose and insulin levels for diabetes, but Americans have been using the drugs for weight loss, as per the outlet.

Goldberg said, "This isn’t just about food. This is sometimes people are born genetically larger." She added that RFK Jr's focus on diet was "setting folks up for shame".
She mentioned, "That’s what you’re trying — maybe you don’t know you’re doing it. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt. I’m going to say you don’t know, you don’t realize what you do to people when you say stuff like that because it doesn’t work for everybody."
Moreover, co-host Joy Behar said Ozempic’s "side effects are not horrible."
Elon Musk and RFK Jr share different views on Ozempic
Elon Musk has argued that the benefits of GLP inhibitors outweigh the potential costs. In an X post on October 2023, he wrote, "Amazing that Ozempic is actually affecting @Walmart food sales! While no drug is without side effects, health problems associated with obesity almost certainly exceed the risks of GLP-1 agonists."

While no drug is without side effects, health problems associated with obesity almost certainly exceed the risks of GLP-1 agonists.
He also posted on Wednesday, December 11, "Nothing would do more to improve the health, lifespan and quality of life for Americans than making GLP inhibitors super low cost to the public. Nothing else is even close."

In contrast, RFK Jr, in a recent interview with Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld, talked about the amount of money it would take to make Ozempic available to everyone who is overweight and claimed that it would cost "$3 trillion a year".
He said, "If we spent one-fifth of that, giving three meals a day to every man, woman, and child in our country, we could solve the obesity and diabetes epidemic overnight."
