NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Co-hosts of the ABC daytime talk show 'The View' criticized Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) for her recent remarks against Texas Governor Greg Abbott on the Wednesday, March 26, episode.

Crockett called Abbott "Governor Hot Wheels" over the weekend, which has been interpreted by many as a jibe over him using a wheelchair, according to the New York Post

Reacting to the clip of Jasmine Crockett mocking Greg Abbott and the latter slamming her in response, the co-hosts of 'The View' unanimously felt that the Congresswoman should apologize for her remark.

Sara Haines insisted Crockett is an "effective" and "talented" communicator, and the controversial remark was "beneath her." She was backed by Alyssa Farah Griffin, who said, "I agree with that. I respect her, but it’s never okay to mock a disability, whether Donald Trump or Jasmine Crockett."

Whoopi Goldberg highlighted the importance of politicians and public figures being "careful" about their speech, as Griffin went on to note that Crockett made similar jokes at Abbott's expense on other occasions.

Sunny Hostin, who claimed to be previously unaware of Abbott's disability, felt that Crockett must have known about it on account of being a representative from the state.

"You don’t mock people with disabilities... You don’t mock people. I was just going to say don’t mock people at all, and I admire Jasmine Crockett. I do think she is an effective messenger," she stated. "I think this was a mistake, and I think when you make a mistake, you have to own it because it gives you more credibility when you do that."

Jasmine Crockett's remarks on Greg Abbott

Speaking at a Human Rights Campaign dinner in Los Angeles on March 22, Jasmine Crockett slammed Greg Abbott, saying, "We in these hot a** Texas streets, honey. Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a** mess, honey!"

The jibe has been widely interpreted as a reference to Abbott using a wheelchair since the age of 26, when he was left paralyzed after being hit by a falling tree while jogging. Crockett has faced backlash for her comment across the political aisle, which forced her to issue an explanation on X (formerly Twitter).

"I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable," she wrote.

Crockett added, "Literally, the next line I said was that he was a 'Hot A** Mess,' referencing his terrible policies. At no point did I mention or allude to his condition. So, I’m even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trump—a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities—are now outraged."

Internet calls Jasmine Crockett 'bottom of the barrel' for mocking Greg Abbott

Netizens, especially conservatives, reacting to the criticism of Jasmine Crockett on 'The View', claimed nothing was "beneath" the Congresswoman as opposed to what the co-hosts insisted.

One wrote, "Nah, it's pretty on par for her," and another said, "Nothing is beneath her. She’s the bottom of the barrel."

A person remarked, "It’s hard for me to imagine anything that is beneath this clown show!" "Even lower than their expectations," someone else wrote, taking a dig at 'The View' hosts.

"Look, when even The View calls you out, you know you messed up. Politics aside, mocking disabilities is just weak. Do better or get rekt," an individual stated.
