NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin kicked off the Monday, July 22 episode of 'The View' by discussing the biggest political news of the weekend— President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race.

As concerns about the President's mental and physical fitness to continue for four more years at the top office grew, Biden announced that he is dropping out of the 2024 race in a letter on Sunday, July 21.

"It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term."

In a follow-up tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Biden endorsed his Vice President to be his successor, writing, "My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this."Sunny Hostin calls Joe Biden a 'patriot'

President Joe Biden's decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race and endorse Kamala Harris "shows what a statesman he is, what a patriot he is," said Sunny Hostin during the Hot Topics segment.

"I think it shows that he can put his country before his ego because he (has) such a good record as president. I think history will note him as one of the greatest presidents that we've had," she continued.

Hostin admitted not being comfortable with the "cannibalization within the Democratic Party" where Biden was being forced out, but was okay with the decision the President made after discussing it with his "inner circle".

"The fact that he has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be his successor makes it even more clear to me that it's not if she is going to be the nominee, it's when she is the nominee," added Hostin.

Ana Navarro gets over Joe Biden by gearing up for Kamala Harris

"I'm full of gratitude to Joe Biden today," shared Ana Navarro.

"I was sad in the way that when you see a champion athlete retire, leave it all on the field, and walk away into the sunset, that made me sad, it gave me nostalgia. I was also mad because he had been dragged relentlessly for three weeks by some people who were supposedly his friends," Navarro continued.

"But I shook it off," she went on to state. "Because we have one job to do. We have to beat Donald Trump and elect the first woman President of the United States. Under no circumstance can we allow the historical opportunity to slip through our fingers again."

Joe Biden's announcement led to GOP 'meltdown', claims Alysa Farah Griffin

Alysa Farah Griffin was equally appreciative of President Joe Biden's decision as she said, "I think it takes character and integrity to pass the torch to the next generation and to know you left it all on the field but there is someone else who can maybe do this job better."

She claimed that the Trump campaign was having a meltdown over Harris being considered the potential Democratic nominee.

"They don't know what to do with themselves. They planned a whole campaign against Joe Biden, not against a female former prosecutor, attorney general, senator... while she was the Vice President, there are unknowns there... It's a moment that I feel like people are energized," the host added.
