LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On a recent episode of 'The View', co-hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin expressed their strong disapproval of George Clooney’s recent op-ed, where the actor urged President Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race and make room for a new Democratic candidate.

Joy Behar was especially vocal about her frustration with Clooney’s approach, questioning why he opted to voice his concerns in a public forum instead of addressing them directly with the President.

"Couldn’t he tell him that in person for God’s sake?!" Behar exclaimed. She continued, "He has to write an op-ed piece?"

Behar also highlighted a significant omission in Clooney’s argument, stating, "The World Bank said last month that the US economy under Biden is boosting up the entire global economy right now. Why doesn’t George Clooney mention that in his op-ed piece? I’m mad at George Clooney right now, even though we dated…I wish."

"I don’t like that George Clooney aired this dirty laundry to the world," Hostin explained. "I think these conversations are happening [and] I think they should be happening because our democracy is at stake, but they should be happening privately with the Commander-in-Chief who we should have the utmost respect for."

In contrast, former Trump aide Alyssa Farah Griffin offered a different perspective on the matter, arguing that the president’s personal feelings should not be a priority over the needs of the country.

"Biden’s feelings don’t matter more than the country," Griffin asserted. She clarified that the issue is not about creating a "narrative" but rather about the concerns of "lifelong" Democrats who are focused on defeating Donald Trump and recognize that Biden "cannot win as things are going."

George Clooney reflects on Joe Biden’s leadership and time’s toll in Op-Ed

In the op-ed that ignited this debate, George Clooney recounted a recent encounter with President Biden at a fundraiser, revealing his belief that Biden is no longer the same leader he was in earlier years.

"We’re all so terrified by the prospect of a second Trump term that we’ve opted to ignore every warning sign," Clooney wrote.

He continued to express his admiration for Biden, stating, "I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as president. I consider him a friend, and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals."

However, Clooney also acknowledged the challenge of time, noting, "One battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can."

Clooney concluded his op-ed by emphasizing the importance of Biden’s role in the 2020 election and the need for a new strategy for the upcoming 2024 race.

"We are not going to win in November with this president," he wrote. "Joe Biden is a hero; he saved democracy in 2020. We need him to do it again in 2024."
