LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Johnny Marr, the legendary guitarist of 80s band The Smiths, recently blasted former president Donald Trump.

The 60-year-old English musician was taken aback to learn that his music is being frequently played at Trump's rallies, and reportedly stated that he will "shut down" the former president's unauthorized use of his music at these events.

Johnny Marr has indicated his intent to prevent Donald Trump's presidential campaign from playing his band's music at their rallies.

This response came after a user posted a video of a 2023 Trump rally in South Dakota.

In the video, the crowd can be heard waiting for the former president to take the stage while The Smiths' song 'Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want' plays in the background.

Marr reportedly co-wrote this song with the band's frontman Morrissey in 1984, per Guardian.

"Ahh…right…OK. I never in a million years would've thought this could come to pass. Consider this s**t shut right down right now," Marr replied to the video.

In the past, several musicians such as Adele, the Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Queen, Pharrell Williams, and the estates of Prince and David Bowie have expressed their disapproval of Trump and his team using their music at public gatherings.

The internet swiftly responded to Marr's reaction and started to troll Trump.

"This makes a good point. Trump is an appropriator. There is nothing original about him," remarked one commentator.

A user shared a gif and wrotre, "Imagine seeing him dance like this to your music. You’d have to sue."

"Heaven knows Trump will be miserable now," said another.

"Trump always steals music. Always has. He's spent a lifetime being a thieving grifter, and politics is his biggest grift," claimed a person.

Another person noted, "Do I sense another lawsuit?"

One user urged, "Sue him for copyright fees!!"

"Please, Please, Please Just Let Him Get What He Wants," joked another.

"I CANNOT get enough of this!" reacted a user with a gif.

"His campaign people don’t believe in asking permission." said another.
