Seth Meyers predicts Fox News will declare watching Donald Trump's rallies 'anti-Trump'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Amid the ongoing controversies surrounding Donald Trump's incendiary remarks about immigrants "poisoning the blood of the United States," his loyal allies remain steadfast, defending his statements and asserting that critics are exaggerating the impact of his language.
Seth Meyers, in light of these defenses, has a rather cynical prediction: Fox News might soon suggest that tuning into Trump's rallies is "actually anti-Trump."
Brian Kilmeade's defense of Donald Trump's comments ignites dispute
This prediction stems from recent events wherein Fox News host Brian Kilmeade came to the defense of the former president, talking about Trump's inflammatory comments and stating that they merely highlight America's immigration issues.
Kilmeade expressed frustration that critics were highlighting the language as the issue, to which Meyers bluntly retorted, “Yes, that’s what we’re saying!”
Meyers then bluntly mocked the former president as he continued, “The language is the problem. I’m sorry we’re focused on his language, but the dude does two things: plays golf and talks. And I don’t want to watch him golf.”
Seth Meyers mocks attempts to dilute Donald Trump's extreme message and predicts absurd spin by Fox News
Meyers, the host of 'Late Night with Seth Meyers', was visibly perturbed not just by Trump's rhetoric but also by the change in their narrative, claiming that they do not try to “translate” his views into “more polite words” anymore.
He ridiculed their strategy of attempting to soften Trump's remarks by translating his statements into more palatable words, stating, “They’re not even trying to do that thing anymore, where they say ‘What Trump really meant was…’ and then translate his fascism into more polite words,” Meyers said.
He added, “They’re basically saying ‘Hey, if it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, it could be anything.’”
Continuing to slam Trump and his supporters, Meyers pointed out that the narrative is shifting, with Trump's allies now outright suggesting that people ignore his words altogether.
He humorously speculated that Fox News might go so far as to label watching Trump's rallies as an act against Trump.
He continued, “Now they’re just telling us not to listen to his words at all. Next they’re going to tell us that watching Trump’s rallies is actually anti-Trump. Fox News is just gonna put up a chyron during Trump rallies that says ‘Quick! Change the channel!’”
