LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Late Show' host Stephen Colbert highlighted and scrutinized the multiple criminal trials that involve former President Donald Trump and also issued a 'Pubic Service Announcement' during his monologue on the show on Thursday.

Colbert, known for his satirical take on current events, began by acknowledging the peculiar timing of Trump facing two criminal trials simultaneously, one in New York regarding falsified business records and another in Georgia about election interference

Stephen Colbert addresses the impending verdict in Donald Trump's civil fraud trial

According to The Wrap, Colbert humorously recounted his attempt to keep up with the legal proceedings by watching both trials simultaneously at Buffalo Wild Wings, adding a touch of levity to an otherwise serious situation. “I had the hot habeas jalapeno bombers,” he quipped.

“It was an insane day for America because it was a regular day for Donald Trump,” Colbert said. “He had not one but two criminal trials today, one in New York, one in Georgia at the exact same time. The only way to follow all the action was to have multiple TVs. That’s why I watch all the proceedings today at Buffalo Wild Wings.”

“I had the hot habeas jalapeno bombers,” Colbert added.

The turning point came when Colbert addressed the impending verdict in Trump's New York civil fraud trial, valued at $370 million. In a tongue-in-cheek manner, he declared, "Whatever he rules, I believe the verdict is unfair—to me, because I don’t have a show tomorrow, and justice delayed is punch lines denied.”

Transitioning to a more serious note, Colbert highlighted the multitude of legal challenges Trump is facing, ranging from the January 6 trial in Washington DC to a classified documents case in Florida.

He pointed out Colorado's attempt to bar Trump from the ballot for alleged involvement in insurrection and his ongoing appeal in the E Jean Carroll defamation case, where a jury previously found Trump liable for sexual assault.

Stephen Colbert's candid assessment

In response to the extensive legal entanglements, Colbert offered a blunt Public Service Announcement: “This is f—ed up.”

The phrase encapsulates the gravity of the situation and Colbert's disbelief at the prospect of Trump potentially returning to presidential candidacy despite the mounting legal scrutiny.

Colbert's unique blend of humor and commentary sheds light on the surreal nature of Trump's legal predicament and the broader implications it holds for the nation.

As the verdict looms in Trump's New York trial, Colbert's monologue reflects the complex and often absurd intersection of politics and the legal system.
