'Is there anything they approve of?' Internet defends Jason Bateman as PETA slams actor for advertising dairy company on 'SmartLess' podcast

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jason Bateman is facing flak from The People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) over his 'SmartLess' podcast.

The animal rights organization has reportedly written a letter to the 'Bad Words' star asking him to stop promoting products from dairy companies.

PETA says Organic Valley doesn't sell 'ethically sourced' products as claimed in Jason Bateman's 'SmartLess' product

In the letter obtained by TMZ, PETA alleges that Bateman used his platform to spread "false and misleading marketing claims" about Organic Valley in a March 18 episode featuring John Oliver.

Their issue stems from the assertion that the dairy company sells items that are "ethically sourced from small family farms where cows spend lots of time grazing outside an organic pasture."

PETA pointed out, "Despite this representation, animals used for such dairy production are not 'ethically sourced' and are harmed in the process. Cows used for mass consumption dairy products are typically hooked up to machines and milked two or more times per day, rather than being allowed to suckle their calves." 

They added, "To ensure a constant supply of milk, these cows are repeatedly and artificially impregnated - not a pleasant experience - to ensure milk production."

PETA called the milking process a "vicious cycle" where cows have to go through frequent mistreatment.

The letter further asserted, "Cows on farms supplying dairy, even on organic farms such as Organic Valley's, are forcibly separated from their newborn calves shortly after birth. This traumatic separation inflicts immense stress upon the cows, who form strong maternal bonds - mother cows can be heard calling for their calves for days after being separated."

Internet reacts to Jason Bateman receiving a letter from PETA

One wrote, "PETA needs to chill out."

Another said, "I love animals, but PETA just bullies ppl. Yes PETA, you're making out to be the bully that picks on anyone with any notoriety! Not a good look. At least, that appears to be the only news that makes news related to your cause."

A person supported the 'Identity Thief' star, writing, "Jason Bateman can do no wrong." Someone else asked, "Is there anything Peta does approve of?"

"It's important to consider the impact of our actions on animals and the environment. Let's strive for more ethical choices in our daily lives," shared a concerned individual. 

One more expressed, "PETA is more annoying than a wet sock."

Another person shared, "Jason Bateman should sue PETA for harrassement. They need to figure out this is AMERICA. We have freedom to make up their own mind, follow their own choice & follow our own culture. At some point somebody needs to put PETA in their place."
