LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The internet is abuzz with mixed reactions as Sam Asghari, pop star Britney Spears' ex, seemingly made a veiled comment about her during his recent PETA event after their bitter split.

The animal rights organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), reportedly launched the campaign with Spears' estranged husband on Tuesday, December 19.

Several months after the animal rights organization labeled his former partner "toxic" for purchasing a new puppy, the fitness coach is actively promoting the importance of adopting dogs instead of buying them.

In one of the images, Sam is seen shirtless, affectionately holding a dog, accompanied by the message, "You Can't Buy Love, But You Can Adopt It.

Another slogan reads, "Some Love Lasts … Never Buy Dogs, Always Spay or Neuter."

A dog enthusiast, Sam frequently posts content on Instagram featuring his Doberman, Porsha, who was originally given to Britney as a gift following their engagement in 2021. However, he ended up keeping her.

What did PETA say about Britney Spears?

Britney, whose memoir has been the subject of numerous news stories retained custody of the couple's four other dogs and added a new canine companion, Snow, to her family two weeks after Sam filed for divorce on August 16.

PETA expressed shock at her decision to buy a pet, lamenting, "She could have been a force for good and adopted, but instead she chose to be toxic, and animals will pay with their lives," per TMZ.
