BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: The Golden Globes drew swift backlash after cutting away from a major award during the live broadcast. While time constraints often force award shows to trim categories, viewers argued this move crossed a line.

The ceremony announced the Best Original Score, Motion Picture winner during a commercial break, leaving audiences frustrated. A clip of Ludwig Goransson accepting the award later appeared on X, where it spread rapidly and intensified the criticism.

The Golden Globes sparked intense backlash after viewers discovered that Ludwig Goransson’s win for Best Original Score did not air during the live broadcast. One user wrote, “Having to listen to Nikki Glaser sing instead of seeing Ludwig Goransson win Best Original Score… Golden Globes, you are nothing,” alongside a GIF of a man giving the show a low rating.

Another commenter reacted with frustration, writing, “Seriously, what the f**k,” and shared a GIF that read, “What the hell is going on?”

A fan of Ludwig Goransson shared, "I think this is so disrespectful to Ludwig Goransson, the guy who also created this masterpiece."

"THEY DIDN’T TELEVISE THIS???? Ludwig Goransson you deserve so much better," wrote another X user.

An enraged fan said, "This should have been in the main broadcast. I hate that awards shows do this. It feels even more wrong for this win and this speech. Thankfully, Ludwig Goransson will get to repeat it at the Oscars, because he's a lock. I said, what I said."

A commenter shared, "This is horrible it was during the break."

An internet user said, "They don’t want to see Germans getting accolades. F**king joo clown show"

Nikki Glaser's opening speech at 2026 Golden Globes

Host Nikki Glaser kicked off the Golden Globe Awards with an explosive opening monologue. During her speech, she criticized President Donald Trump’s Justice Department and joked that it deserved an award for “Best Editing” after releasing heavily redacted Epstein files.

“I cannot believe the amount of star power we have in this room tonight. It is insane,” Glaser said. She then added, “So many A-listers—and by A-listers, I mean people who are on 'a list' that has been heavily redacted.”

Her remark drew loud cheers and a few groans from the celebrity crowd. Glaser continued the joke by pretending to give the “Golden Globe for Best Editing” to Trump’s Justice Department, pointing out that officials had released only one percent of the files since November 2025.

Glaser later turned to Leonardo DiCaprio, joking about his well-known preference for dating younger women. She praised his career, saying, “I mean, countless iconic performances. You’ve worked with every great director. You’ve won three Golden Globes and an Oscar.” She added, “And the most impressive thing is that you accomplished all of that before your girlfriend turned 30.”

The cameras immediately cut to DiCaprio, who looked uncomfortable and avoided eye contact as the audience reacted. He gave an awkward thumbs-up, which became one of the night’s most talked-about moments.

Glaser quickly apologized, calling the joke “cheap,” noting DiCaprio’s private life is tightly guarded. “I’m sorry I made that joke, it’s cheap. We don’t know anything else about you man. I mean, open up! I searched. The most in-depth interview you’ve ever given was in Teen Beat magazine in 1991. Is your favorite food still pasta, pasta, and more pasta?"

DiCaprio attended the Golden Globes without his Italian supermodel girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti, 27. The couple first sparked dating rumors in 2023.
