DENVER, COLORADO: Jenna Ellis, once a prominent member of Donald Trump's legal team, now finds herself entangled in misconduct allegations in her home state of Colorado.

This comes in the aftermath of her tearful admission to committing a felony as part of an attempt to subvert the 2020 presidential election.

RICO case fallout: From Georgia mug shot to Colorado allegations

Ellis, who previously grinned for a mug shot in Fulton County, Georgia, is facing accusations of violating rules of professional conduct and breaching the lawyer's oath she took in Colorado. These charges are a direct result of her involvement in a RICO case alongside Trump lawyers Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, and Ray Stallings Smith III.

According to court documents reviewed by Law&Crime, Ellis was indicted for “unlawfully solicit[ing], request[ing], and importun[ing] certain public officers of the Georgia Senate and [being] present at a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee meeting” on December 3, 2020 to “engage in conduct constituting the felony offense of Violation of Oath by Public Officer by unlawfully appointing presidential electors from the State of Georgia, in willful and intentional violation of the terms of the oath of said persons as prescribed by law[.]”

In October, Ellis pleaded guilty to felony aiding and abetting false statements and writings in connection with the Georgia case. The recent Colorado allegations are linked to this guilty plea, stating that her actions in Georgia constitute a felony conviction in Colorado.

Ellis’ “entry of a guilty plea to the felony charge of aiding and abetting false statements and writings in violation of [Georgia law] constitutes a felony conviction pursuant to [Colorado law],” the complaint states.

Colorado Attorney Regulation Counsel Jessica Yates, responsible for investigating lawyer misconduct, asserts that Ellis violated Georgia's rules of professional conduct and is consequently subject to disciplinary action in Colorado.

The complaint contends that Ellis admitted to a criminal act reflecting negatively on her honesty, trustworthiness, and fitness as a lawyer, involving "dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation."

Despite not directly addressing the Georgia Senate Judiciary Subcommittee in 2020, Ellis allegedly “knowingly aided and abetted Mr Giuliani and Mr Smith, who knowingly, willfully, and unlawfully made the false statements” about voting and tabulation of votes in Georgia, which is reportedly a violation of professional conduct rules, per Law&Crime.

"I thought I resolved all of this almost a year ago," Ellis commented to Colorado Newsline. "I will vigorously defend against this complaint and am confident that once all the facts are brought out, I will prevail."

This marks the second time since 2020 that Ellis has faced misconduct allegations in Colorado. In March 2023, she was censured for making misleading statements about the 2020 presidential election results.

Social media reaction to latest allegations

Social media erupted with reactions following the latest allegations against Ellis.

"So throwing Trump under the bus didn't help her with the Colorado bar," one posted on X (formerly Twitter).

"I struggle to consider her a conservative," another wrote.

"Jenna Ellis is a coward and a liar. She deserves no respite from either side now," a comment read.

"Jenna should've stood by the truth. But now we all know that she has as many morals as the left: 0," someone else quipped.

"This makes things interesting in a way I didn't anticipate," another reacted.
