NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) has voiced criticism towards the hosts of 'The View' for what he perceived as attacks on him due to his status as the sole Black Republican senator but, he also expressed optimism about the momentum of the Black GOP.

In a video shared on social media platform X, Scott remarked, "I’m never surprised when the ladies at ‘The View’ go at it again. They’re attacking me for being the only Black Republican in the Senate."

The South Carolina senator, who halted his GOP primary campaign in November and subsequently endorsed Trump in January, is speculated to be among the potential running mates for the former president.

To add context, Sunny Hostin on May 3, during a conversation among the women about which lawmaker would be most effective in helping Trump appeal to the largest number of voters said, “If anyone thinks that Tim Scott is going to bring over a bunch of Black men, they really need to just get with it, because Tim Scott is the only African American senator in the Republican Party for a reason,”.

During the discussion, former Trump administration aide Alyssa Farah Griffin, who is also a co-host, pointed out that Democrats have only marginally more Black lawmakers in the Senate compared to Republicans.

Hostin countered by highlighting that Democratic Black lawmakers held all of the top publicly elected positions in the nation.

In response to the conversation, Scott argued that the co-hosts were hesitant to acknowledge the influence and strength of the Black GOP base.

“Four out of 10 Black men wanting to vote for the Republican Party, doubling the number of Black women interested in voting for the Republican Party,” he said. “What they’re afraid of is the monopoly is over.”

“The Republican Party, the GOP, on the move in my community,” Scott continued. “God Bless America.”

Internet divided over Tim Scott's comments

Social media users were divided in their reactions to Scott's comments

One viewer said, "Tim, Tim, Tim. America sees right through you."

Another viewer said, "Scott’s an ‘Uncle Tom’ and everyone knows it. What a pathetic excuse of a man."

One viewer noted, "Could it be because the GOP is full of racist misogynists whose primary “platform” is disenfranchising anyone who isn’t a white, Christian, cis-male, Tim? Oh, and tax cuts for the wealthy, who, you guessed it, mostly are white, Christian, cis-male. @SenatorTimScott."

A follower observed, "No one attacked you dude. They did say you are the only Black senator for a reason. They did say you said I love you to Donald, and that making you Donnie's choice for VP would not attract Black males. All true statements."

One comment read, "The women on the view are racists, plain and simple."

Another comment read, "Never use the term “ladies” and the view in the sentence."

"The View talking heads are ignorant racists," explained one person.
