MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz has attacked former President Donald Trump and his running mate Sen JD Vance, accusing them of wanting to invade the privacy of people.

Speaking at a rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday, September 2, the Minnesota governor claimed that Trump and Vance, unlike the Republicans in the past, want to curtail freedom by advocating for a "small government," as per Mediaite.

Walz also called out the real estate mogul for wanting to make large tax cuts for rich Americans, a policy he enacted in 2017 during his White House stint.

"I remember a time when Republicans talked about things like freedom; they meant it," Walz said to supporters on Labor Day. "But that's not these guys. Trump and Vance, when they talk about freedom, mean the government should have the freedom to invade every corner of our lives."

The Democratic running mate added that the GOP nominee and his VP candidate "talk about small government, small enough to be in your bedroom, small enough to be in your exam room, small enough to be in your library, telling you the things you should make decisions about."

Walz and his running mate, Vice President Kamala Harris, since their last-minute entry into the 2024 race, focused on attacking Trump, especially regarding his role in overturning Roe v Wade.

The 45th president often boasted that his appointments of three conservative justices to the US Supreme Court made the majority decision in 2022 to upend the landmark ruling that granted abortion access nationwide.

Tim Walz slams Trump for promising tax cuts to wealthy Americans

Addressing the supporters at the Badger State, the Minnesota governor cited a viral video of Trump from 2023 where he pledged to cut taxes for the wealthy people of the US.

"But you got to help them financially because you are all people that have a LOT of money! I know 20 of you, and you're rich as HELL!" the MAGA spearhead said last year at a gathering in his luxurious Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. He added that they would receive tax cuts, and their debts would be paid off.

Walz noted that at the same time, Trump told workers that they were already being paid more.

The Democrat asked the crowd in Wisconsin whether they would sit around and say that they wished to be stripped of their healthcare, have underfunded public schools, lose their jobs, and wish to work till the age of 75.

"No one’s saying that! No one’s asking for that agenda!” Walz added.

On Labor Day, Vice President Harris rallied in Detroit and Pittsburgh, whereas Trump stayed away from the campaign trail.

In Pittsburgh, the vice president was joined by President Joe Biden for their first joint appearance in a campaign stop since his withdrawal from the 2024 race. Addressing the crowd, the 81-year-old declared that selecting Harris as the VP was the "single best decision" he had taken as POTUS.

Internet sides with Walz as he accuses Trump and Vance over 'small' government

Walz's criticism of Trump and Vance aiming for a 'small government' garnered support online. Netizens applauded the governor for calling out the MAGA overtake of the Republican Party that hindered the freedom of people.

"He's just so concise in his delivery. Damn good," a user said.

"It’s nice that someone is breaking down actual socialism for once," another remarked.

"The difference between the two campaign is like day & night. One talks about their plans, calls for togetherness & unity in diversity. The other talks about their opponent, sells fear & fights diversity. Those who cannot see this difference are only those who refuse to see," added a third user.

"Walz is so good at putting the Maga Republican’s extremism in perfect perspective." read a fourth response.

"Mocking the @GOP for selling their souls is the right play," someone else wrote.

"One thing they've done pretty effectively is take back the word and idea of "freedom" from the GOP. The party of "freedom" has spent the last 40+ years systematically and intentionally removing people's freedoms," another user opined.

"Another killer moment from Tim Walz, turning what Republicans are claiming to be for on its head. Spare us the talk about "small government" when what they pushing for is the exact opposite. Tim Walz is just so very good at this," an individual said.

"Damn, I want this man to be VP! Integrity, humility, and compassion. He checks every box," another user added.
