NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Pauline Chalamet's recent social media thoughts were on wealth inequality- but given her past digs, her recent comments seemed to be aimed at her younger brother Timothee Chalamet’s billionaire girlfriend Kylie Jenner

The 'Sex Lives of College Girls' actress, 33, took to Instagram this week to voice her frustration over the “insane wealth disparity” in the United States after reading a New York Times article about foreign aid cuts, the Daily Mail reported.

Pauline Chalamet calls out social issues in US in Instagram post

“New York Times, liberal bias, yes yes yes I get it. But this one by @nickkristof is worth the read,” Pauline Chalamet wrote in her Instagram Stories. “It’s about empathy and humanity.”

She continued passionately calling out societal issues in her post.

“The United States faces a tremendous number of domestic issues. Our maternal mortality rate is embarrassing, our way of shopping and eating food completely out of season makes no sense, we're spoiled in our desire to BLAST ACs and heat, our INSANE wealth disparity is sick, the list literally goes ON and ON,” she wrote.

Pauline then shifted focus to foreign aid, urging her followers to reflect on its importance.

“BUT just take a second and think about the fact that LESS THAN 1% of all of our money goes to humanitarian aid. That money is insignificant in fixing any of the larger problems that play in the United States. And yet so significant to the lives of millions of individuals across this shared home we call Earth,” she wrote.

Kylie Jenner was declared the world's youngest self-made billionaire at the age of 21 in 2019, as per Forbes, and had an estimated net worth of $900 million alone at the age of 20.

Daily Mail reported that while Pauline didn’t mention Jenner directly, the post comes after a series of remarks from the actress that some believe have subtly targeted Jenner.

Pauline's previous subtle shade at Kylie Jenner

Last year in 2024, Pauline appeared to criticize billionaires and CEOs who own private jets, a luxury famously enjoyed by Kylie Jenner, who owns Kylie Air.

Pauline reposted a tweet by Democratic politician Melanie D'Arrigo, which read, “If your job requires a college degree, you should be able to write off your student loan payments as a business expense the way CEOs write off their private jets and yachts for their jobs which require neither.”

Although it’s unclear if Jenner writes off her jet as a business expense, the beauty mogul has faced repeated backlash for her CO2 emissions linked to frequent private jet use, as per several reports.

More recently, Pauline stirred conversation again when she reshared a scathing post from Bernie Sanders criticizing billionaires' influence in politics.

“When the three wealthiest men in America sit behind Trump at his inauguration, everyone understands that the billionaire class now controls our government,” Sanders wrote.

Pauline amplified the message with her own caption: “Our system is so flawed that it allows billionaires to exist and accrue so much money and BARELY pay (and sometimes NOT PAY) ANY ANY ANY TAXES. This should not be possible. Billionaires do not need to exist. Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg SITTING IN FRONT OF cabinet is NOT DEMOCRATIC. NOT. DEMOCRATIC.”

The now-deleted post quickly caught attention, with some speculating that Pauline’s frustration may have been a thinly veiled reference to Kylie.

Interestingly, despite these seemingly pointed remarks, Pauline and Jenner appeared to be on friendly terms when they were seen warmly hugging at the Coperni afterparty in Paris last October.

On the other hand, Timothee and Jenner have also been flaunting their love for each other in public as they were recently spotted watching the Indian Wells Open together.
