Tina Fey sets the record straight on Timothee Chalamet ‘manspreading’ controversy: ‘We have no beef’
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: Tina Fey has clarified that there is no "beef" between her and Timothee Chalamet after the was accused of "manspreading" while sitting next to Fey at a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden last month.
Speaking on the 'New Heights' podcast with Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce on Wednesday, May 27, Fey finally addressed the incident. She said there was no issue between them and emphasized that she had no awareness of the online reaction at the time.
The controversy began after images circulated online showing Fey seated beside Chalamet, with attention focused on his wide-legged sitting posture, which some social media users described as "manspreading."
The 'Saturday Night Live' alum added that she did not realize the situation would become a viral topic of discussion the next day. The game in question took place around April 28.

Fey addressed the viral discussion surrounding Chalamet’s seating posture during an appearance on the Wednesday, May 27 episode of the 'New Heights' podcast with Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce. “I should start by saying that Timothee Chalamet was nothing but lovely. Super friendly,” Fey said
“Kylie was friendly and delightful. We had a great time. He was joking around with Tracy (Morgan),” she added.
The comedian explained that she only became aware of the online reaction later. “It wasn't until the next day that I saw all these manspreading things,” she said. Fey also responded to the commentary with humor, noting, “But I will say, you've got to remember, so for every amount that he's sitting like this and manspreading, I'm doing the opposite."
"I've got a big ole can. As Amy Poehler would say, ‘God is fair.' Timothee's legs are in the front, my big ole can is taking the back. We had no beef. We had no beef. It was all good and the Knicks won so everybody was happy.”
She also described how the seating arrangement unfolded. “There were two empty seats and I was like, ‘Tracy, I wonder who's gonna sit by us?' And he's like, ‘I dunno.' I was like, ‘Here they come, stars!' ” Fey said, recalling the moment she realized she would be sitting beside Chalamet and Jenner at the game.

For those unaware of what happened, Chalamet attended the game alongside his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, and the 'Saturday Night Live' alum was sitting next to him. The 'Marty Supreme' star was seated between Jenner and Fey during Game 5 of the NBA playoff series at Madison Square Garden. Throughout the match, he appeared highly engaged in watching the game.
However, viewers on social media focused on his seating posture and overall courtside behavior. Clips and images from the game quickly circulated online, leading to criticism and jokes about his “inconsiderate” positioning next to Tina Fey.
