TJ Holmes, Amy Robach desperate to make relationship work as breakup would be 'humiliating', says source
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Amy Robach and TJ Holmes are apparently willing to try everything to make their relationship work.
After the former hosts were fired from ‘Good Morning America’ thanks to their affair, it has been revealed that Robach and Holmes are working hard to make sure their relationship goes the distance.
Amy Robach and TJ Holmes contemplating couples therapy
Recently, a source close to Robach, 50, and Holmes, 46, revealed to Life & Style Magazine that the couple want their relationship to prove fruitful after putting so much on the line - including their jobs.
The insider shared, “They were on a high during the early stages of their romance, but those days are over,” before adding that the couple have talked about the “pressure” on their relationship after their unsolicited career challenges.
They explained, "As Amy’s said, there’s been a price to pay for their relationship. They just never could’ve imagined encountering so many bumps in the road.”
The insider commented on their desire to eliminate any communication gap, saying, "They’ve actually thought about going to couples therapy," before adding, "It definitely couldn’t hurt."
The source continued, "They both desperately want the relationship to work," and added, "They’d be humiliated if they broke up now."
Couple using podcast to talk about relationship
Recently, during an episode of their podcast ‘Amy and TJ’, the pair shared how their romance began. Contrary to the popular opinion, they revealed they were “outed” by the ABC Network for being in a relationship, and not for adultery.
They shared on the podcast, "We were outed by a publication that outed us, and so to be clear, we were outed as being in a relationship, but everyone else thought we were being outed as adulteries, being outed as cheating on our spouses, and it wasn't the case.”
Holmes further stated, "The first pictures that were taken were me coming out of my apartment, my home in New York. That home is where I reside by myself.”
He reiterated that it was not the home that he shared with his ex-wife, saying, “I have been residing by myself since last summer," per OK! Magazine.
He continued, "The picture actually confirms that I was out of my marriage because I was coming out of a building, which is not where I share a home with my ex-wife now. So, it's funny, to put it that way, but that is actually the truth. November 30th was a rough day."
Before they started dating, Robach was married to former ‘Melrose Place’ actor Andrew Shue, while Holmes was married to attorney Marilee Fiebig. Both the couples got married in 2010.
Holmes and Robach’s relationship came into the limelight when cozy photos of them started doing the rounds of the media in November 2022.
Following the relationship rumor, the Disney-owned channel suspended them from their hosting duties of ‘GMA3’, the third hour of ‘Good Morning America’. In January 2023, they were fired from the jobs following an investigation.
Both the former couples went on to finalize divorce with their respective spouses. While Robach and Shue finalized their divorce in March 2023, Holmes and Fiebig ended their relationship in October, per New York Post.
They have later denied cheating on their former spouses.
Recently, Shue and Fiebig were spotted together in the JFK Airport.
Amy Robach and TJ Holmes 'still together' after on-air tiff
During the January 23 episode of their podcast, Robach was left disappointed with Holmes' behavior.
She said to her beau, “I felt extremely disconnected from you, and I am someone who does want and needs physical touch, words of affirmation and communication,” before adding that he’d been “emotionally removed....The last few days, I felt disconnected from you.”
They later took to their Instagram to reassure their fans that they are still in a relationship.
