OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA: Toby Keith’s family announced the series of functions they are planning to bid the ‘Should've Been a Cowboy’ star farewell after the country icon died on February 5.

The ‘Made in America’ star’s family announced earlier this month that he “passed peacefully” at the age of 62 on February 5 after he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2021.

When will Toby Keith’s services take place?

The family announced in an Instagram post dated February 12 that the family is planning two “private” and “public” services for the singer.

The family announced that the ‘American Soldier’ singer, whose full name is Toby Keith Covel, will be buried in a private funeral service. It will be followed by a memorial service whose date is yet to be announced.

On Monday, the family announced, "The Covel Family is hosting a private funeral service for family, band and crew only in mid-February.”

His family members continued, “A memorial service to honor Toby will be announced only on Keith's socials shortly.”

They continued, "In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to @tkfoundation1 to support the OK Kids Korral," and shared a link to the Toby Keith Foundation's website.

Earlier, they announced the singer's death through another post on his Instagram page where they wrote, "Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on Feb. 5 surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage," before adding, "Please respect the privacy of his family at this time."

Brett Favre opens up about Toby Keith's final days

Retired NFL star Brett Favre recently opened up about his last conversation with close friend Toby Keith. During a recent interview with TMZ Sports, the former Green Bay Packers quarterback said he used to call the 'Red Solo Cup' singer every three months after he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2021.

He shared that before his demise, Keith had quit chemotherapy and was "okay" with "whatever" was in store.

Favre shared in the interview that he spoke just a few days ago with Keith where the singer shared the news of his quitting chemotherapy.

Favre explained, "He did say that to me when we had our conversation, he said, ‘Brett… whatever happens, I’m okay with it'."

He continued to reveal Keith's debilitating view on chemotherapy as the former NFL star recalled, "He said, ‘I quit chemo and it probably did more damage to me than the cancer did'."

He further continued, "And he said, ‘I just hope I didn’t quit it too late, but… I’m thankful I got a chance to play some shows. I finished them'."

He also admitted that while he is heartbroken by his friend's demise, he is also extremely grateful for the friendship.

He said about Keith, “He was the best."
