WASHTENAW, MICHIGAN: Tom Brady's highly anticipated broadcasting debut is gaining momentum as Fox aired a new commercial during the Michigan v Texas game on Saturday, September 8.

The former NFL star, who signed a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox, is set to step into the broadcasting booth for the first time this Sunday when the Dallas Cowboys face off against the Cleveland Browns in their season opener.

Brady, who retired from his record-breaking NFL career in early 2023, is expected to earn $37.5 million annually, making him one of the highest-paid TV personalities.

How did Fox land Tom Brady for broadcasting?

Securing Tom Brady’s services wasn’t an easy feat for Fox, according to a recent interview in 'The Ringer.'

Fox executives Eric Shanks and Brad Zager revealed the “Hail Mary” approach they took to convince the retired quarterback to take a job he initially showed no interest in.

“Shanks and Zager were trying to convince Brady, who’d retired from football, to take a job he’d never shown interest in,” it was reported.

Zager added, “It was only because he was retired that we threw that Hail Mary.” Fox's executives presented Brady with a video reel of his career highlights, including footage from his Super Bowl victories, in a bid to persuade him to join the network.

What message does the new Tom Brady ad send?

The advertisement that aired during the Michigan game showcases a 47-year-old Tom Brady talking to himself at different stages of his life—while playing for Michigan, the Patriots, the Buccaneers, and even as a young boy.

"Tom Brady is back to work," reads the ad’s closing message. Earlier in the clip, Brady addresses the questions that have surrounded his move into broadcasting, Daily Mail noted.

“Tommy, the guy who took a couple of snaps in JuCo (junior college) wants answers,” the younger Brady says.

"Why don't you lay on a beach getting fat on Pina coladas?” Brady is asked, to which he responds, “Why not buy a soccer team?” referencing his ownership stake in English soccer club Birmingham City.

He then says, "What they're really asking is: why don't you quit football?"

Fans believe Tom Brady will 'dominate' the broadcast booth like field

Fans quickly reacted to the advertisement and Tom Brady’s broadcasting debut on social media.

One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “I cannot wait. Gonna dominate the broadcast booth just like the field.” Another added, “This is incredible.”

"Chills seeing him in our uni again," another fan commented. One more wrote, “Alls I’m say’n is Brady gonn bring [cup] to Fox sports broadcasting.”

One fan praised the production of the advertisement, writing, "Absolutely love it! We can see that TB probably wrote and directed this piece and cast that adorable and feisty little boy with the eye of the tiger himself. Good luck and looking forward to hearing TB's thoughts, opinions, and ideas. Very proud of you, you will always be my QB."
