'Beverly Hills' co-stars Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green reveal why they didn't speak for 18 years
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green recently opened up about losing touch with each other, their 18-year silence, and the emotional reason behind their disconnect after 'Beverly Hills, 90210' ended in 2000.
The pair, who once played on-screen lovers in the 90s hit drama 'Beverly Hills, 90210' and dated in real life, revisited their falling out during a heartfelt conversation on the August 26 episode of 'Oldish Podcast'.
Tori Spelling claims end of 'Beverly Hills, 90210' felt like a 'divorce'
The podcast's Instagram channel also posted the episode with the caption, "In this episode, Tori and Brian dive deep into their shared experiences on Beverly Hills, 90210, reflecting on behind-the-scenes stories, their evolving relationship, and the surprising reasons that led them to stop talking for 18 years."
"I vividly remember our last conversation," Spelling, 51, shared on the podcast.
"The final words we exchanged before those long 18 years—I was in tears. I knew we were about to lose touch, and it broke my heart because we were so close."

Spelling reflected on the end of 'Beverly Hills, 90210' in 2000, describing it as "like going through a divorce" because she was "losing that human I’m with every day."
Despite their deep connection, Spelling remembered Green, 51, reassuring her they’d stay in touch—only for him to quickly point out that she didn’t hold up her end of the bargain.
“I remember going by Vincent [Young]’s house to see you multiple days after we wrapped and trying to keep a connection going. But it got to the point where I just never got that from you,” Green said.
Green recalled a pivotal moment at the '90210' DVD release party in 2006, saying, “And then I remember being at the ‘90210’ DVD release party and you were married to Dean [McDermott] and I was with Megan [Fox] when we were still just dating — you guys got there and you never said hello to me once. I just kept missing you guys and then you were gone.”
At the time in 2006, Spelling had just married Dean McDermott and Green had started dating Megan Fox in 2004, married her in 2010, and split in 2021.
Green then confessed that he believed Spelling "did not want to be" his friend anymore.
“I genuinely felt that way,” Green said. “I felt like I’ve lived up to my half of the bargain. I tried to visit you and I would call you. When that wasn’t reciprocated at some point … you give up.”
Spelling agreed with Green, admitting, “Your experience is pretty right on.”
Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green's relationship with other 'Beverly Hills' co-stars
Tori Spelling also shared that their falling out was partly due to the people they dated after their relationship.
Spelling began dating Vincent Young, another of her love interests from the iconic ’90s show, while Green moved on with co-star Vanessa Marcil.
Tori Spelling began dating Young in the early 2000s. Their relationship started around 2005 when they met on the set of the Lifetime TV movie 'Mind Over Murder'.
“It was a complicated relationship,” she recalled of dating Young. “On my part, I lost myself in that relationship again as I had done previously in relationships. That relationship was not a good relationship for me and toward the end I got wrapped up and things weren’t good.”
Spelling confessed that she “shied away” from Green because he wasn’t supportive of her relationship at the time.
“My process was different, and I would shy away from those who would really fight for me,” she explained.
“I never stopped thinking about you and never stopped wanting to reach out and reconnect."
During their conversation, Spelling hinted that she wasn’t a fan of Green’s relationship with Vanessa Marcil, calling it “frustrating to see.”
Marcil and Green had welcomed their son, Kassius, in 2002. Despite the tension, Green revealed he never fully cut Spelling off because she was like a “sister” to him, as per Page Six.
He also confirmed that they’re now friends and regularly keep in touch.
After his divorce from Megan Fox, Green found love again with Sharna Burgess, and the couple announced their engagement in September 2023.
As for Spelling, she is currently navigating her post-divorce life following her separation from Dean McDermott.
After filing for divorce in March 2023, she stated that she wished to explore dating outside of the Hollywood circle.
In a recent episode of her podcast, 'misSPELLING', Spelling discussed her reluctance to be alone, stating, "I don't want to be with myself," and mentioned her interest in meeting someone who is not part of the entertainment industry, as per People.
