KANSAS, MISSOURI: Preliminary toxicology findings on the three deceased Kansas City Chiefs fans discovered frozen in a friend's yard revealed the presence of cocaine, THC, and a lethal threefold excess of fentanyl, as per New York Post

The families of David Harrington, Clayton McGeeney, and Ricky Johnson, who were found lifeless outside their friend Jordan Willis' Kansas City residence on January 9, have verified to WDAF that law enforcement possesses initial reports detailing illicit drug use in the men's systems.

In light of the revelations about drug use, the families of the victims have also provided their statements amidst the ongoing investigation.

What does the report say?

According to Newsnation’s national correspondent Alex Caprariello who shared his statement on X, “A family member, who asked to remain anonymous, tells me cocaine, fentanyl, and THC showed up in the preliminary results,”

He added, “The family source says level 10 fentanyl is enough to kill. The #KansasCity3 were at level 30.”

He subsequently stated that the information was “backed up and confirmed by a second, separate family source.”

Kansas City police have acknowledged their communication with the families, as reported by NewsNation.

A police spokesperson informed the outlet on Thursday, “There have been no additional details of this case revealed to any media, nor are there any plans to at this time. The case remains an ongoing death investigation,”

Speculation about drug use as a potential factor in the men's deaths has surfaced.

Jordan Willis, an HIV scientist, voluntarily entered rehab for substance abuse following the tragic discovery of his deceased friends, as mentioned by his parents.

What did the attorney and the victim's family claim?

Tony Kagay, the attorney representing the victim Clayton McGeeney's family, mentioned that he hasn't personally seen the report but considers it the initial step in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the men's deaths.

Speaking on 'Cuomo' Thursday night, he stated, “I don’t think that anyone familiar with this situation or this investigation thought that there wasn’t something else in play here and I think that the toxicology report is going to be the first step on many steps in the investigation as to who is responsible for these men’s tragic deaths,”

Kagay added, “If fentanyl was involved, which I don’t know at this point, then obviously … it’s a scourge, and it turns recreational drug use into a lethal situation.”

Despite some relatives suspecting Jordan Willis' involvement, the police have emphasized that the case is not treated as a homicide, and no foul play is suspected.

Jon Harrington, father of one of the deceased, expressed suspicion, stating, “[Harrington’s mother] and I are both convinced that Jordan Willis played a part in this somehow, There were four of you in the house and now three of them are dead and you’re not. That doesn’t add up.”

Jonathan Johnson, brother of another victim, has been seeking answers, while Willis' attorney, John Picerno, asserted that his client "did nothing wrong" and was unaware of his friends' deaths.

Police Capt Jake Becchina clarified, "This case is 100% NOT being investigated as a homicide."

Autopsies are pending to determine the cause of death, and the results may take several weeks, according to the medical examiner.
