KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs star tight end, is not a stranger to being in the limelight, but his latest project has left fans divided.

The first trailer for his new game show, 'Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?' released this week, and reactions from viewers have been anything but unanimous.

This comes at a time when Kelce is also facing criticism for getting off to a slow start in the 2024 football season.

'Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?' which premieres on Amazon Prime with three episodes on October 16, takes inspiration from the classic 'Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?' but with a celebrity twist.

Instead of schoolchildren helping contestants answer elementary-level questions, celebrities are the ones lending a hand as contestants try to win a $100,000 prize.

Kelce’s hosting gig sees him teaming up with well-known personalities like former NFL player Chad Ochocinco, comedian Nikki Glaser, and reality star Lala Kent.

Adding to the buzz around the show is the reveal that Kelce is reportedly being paid $750,000 for his role as host.

While that paycheck might seem hefty to some, it pales in comparison to his lucrative NFL contracts, leading some to wonder why Kelce took on this new venture in the first place.

But besides this, not all viewers are thrilled after what they’ve seen in the teaser.

Travis Kelce's NFL struggles

Travis Kelce’s jump into the entertainment world comes at an interesting time in his football career. The 34-year-old has had a rough start to the 2024 NFL season, with some of his worst stats on record.

Through the first three games, Kelce managed just eight catches for 69 yards, leaving fans worried about his focus on the field.

In a season where he has faced plenty of criticism, the timing of the show’s trailer release couldn’t have been more delicate.

With fans already questioning his commitment to football, the mixed reviews for 'Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?' only added fuel to the fire.

However, Kelce quickly silenced his critics during Kansas City's win over the LA Chargers on September 30, Monday.

In that game, he caught seven passes for 89 yards, reminding everyone of his elite status and proving that his passion for football hasn’t wavered.

But, the real question is will the game show deliver?

Kelce’s lively banter and comedic flair might appeal to some, but others are questioning whether his off-field charisma will translate into hosting success.
