Billy Eichner recalled the moment when Travis Kelce enthusiastically approached him at Madonna’s Oscars party.  

The comedian had already noticed Kelce and his pop star girlfriend, Taylor Swift, standing prominently at the center of the star-studded gathering when he arrived.

Later in the night, the footballer made his move, delivering what Eichner described as "a very strong, like, bro-y pat on my shoulder."

When Eichner turned to face the towering athlete, Kelce greeted him in a booming voice. The comedian shared, "In a house full of the most famous people in the world Travis Kelce looks at me and goes, 'Jimmy on the M*********g Street, I love you, man!'"

Eichner, known for his hit show 'Billy on the Street', couldn’t help but laugh as he recounted the mix-up to host Jimmy Kimmel.

Despite the blunder, Eichner said Kelce was "beaming" with joy during the exchange. "I'm not expecting like that he would know who I am at all," The 'Bros' noted.

"He said it with such confidence that I could not bring myself to correct him," Eichner admitted, adding that the "lovely" and charming athlete continued chatting with him throughout the night.

"He looked so happy to see me ... Like I could tell he was a fan," the comedian stated.

The NFL star's amusing mix-up with Billy Eichner sparked hilarious reactions from the viewers of Jimmy Kimmel's show.

One wrote, "What a wild night that must have been!" and another said, "Travis does whatever he wants lmao."

"He should’ve turned around and said 'Taylor Kelce! I love you!'" quipped a person, while someone else remarked, "Travis always has a great time!"

Another observed, "This has similarities to Christian McCaffrey’s story about Travis Kelce - Travis is just irrepressible."  

An individual joked, "Taylor Travis is a big fan of other people too," while one more jibed, "She likely isn't dating him for his brains," referring to his girlfriend, Swift. 

Billy Eichner recalls fist-bump saga with Travis Kelce

Billy Eichner recalled that through the evening Travis Kelce repeatedly walked by to give him fist bumps.

"I don't want to stereotype gay men, but I don't ordinarily communicate via fist-bump, but I kept doing it," the 46-year-old joked.

At one point, Eichner suspected Kelce might have mistaken him for Kimmel, who was also at the event. However, Kimmel dismissed the idea, saying, "I don't think he talked to me at all. No, I don't think I did talk to him."

Eichner then extended a playful invitation, telling Kimmel, "I do want to say though, he has an open invitation to appear with me on 'Jimmy on the Street.' You can join us," leading the host to quip, "That way we can really confuse him!"

Eichner also mentioned Kelce's pop star companion, saying, "Yeah, and he was with Taylor, I didn't get to say hi to her, she was talking to someone, but it would have been funny if I turned to her and said, 'Oh my God, Sara Bareilles, I love you.'"
