Travis Kelce's 'epic' relationship advice to 'New Heights' listener with 'ugly' husband cracks up fans
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: When it comes to relationship advice, Travis Kelce isn’t known for holding back - and his latest take on a fan-submitted question about facial hair is no exception.
In a bonus episode of the 'New Heights' podcast, which he co-hosts with his older brother Jason Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was asked for advice on how a listener could tell her husband that she preferred him with facial hair after he recently switched to a clean-shaven look.
The listener, understandably, was nervous about how to broach the subject without offending her husband.
Travis Kelce’s savage advice for dealing with an 'ugly' husband
“What you’re really saying is you don’t like the way your husband’s face looks,” Jason, 37, quipped in response to the question.
He went on to joke, “How do you tell somebody that you like their face better when half of it can’t be seen?”
But Travis, 35, was having none of the hesitation. The Super Bowl champ jumped in, offering a hefty dose of “tough love.”
“I’m here for some f***ing tough love, alright?” he declared, clearly ready to give the listener the blunt truth.
The advice? Don’t sugarcoat it. Travis straight-up told the listener, “If you got a f***ing butt-ugly husband and he looks better with a beard, you tell him that.”
He wasn’t done yet, adding, “Don’t let him just walk around here with that butt-ugly face... that s**t’s f***ed up. That s**t hurts your soul, then let him know. Can’t just be out here looking ugly. You’re representing the other person.”
As if that wasn’t bold enough, Travis explained that in relationships, style is just another part of teamwork.
Travis Kelce gets real about beards, says 'they’re makeup for men'
Travis emphasized that you can’t let your partner walk around looking “ugly” because it affects both of you. “You’re representing the other person,” Travis noted, getting deep about the power of appearances.
Of course, Travis wasn’t just talking the talk. He’s walked the walk—literally, as he’s known for his ever-evolving facial hair.
From a scruffy beard to a clean shave to his most recent mustache, Travis has experimented with plenty of styles.
Plus, he's no stranger to receiving some lighthearted criticism for his choices, notably from fans and even restaurants like the Cheesecake Factory.
Jason, ever the sidekick, jumped in with a cheeky remark about how facial hair works wonders for men in a similar way that makeup works for women.
“What makeup accomplishes for women, beards accomplish for men,” he declared, noting how a beard can hide imperfections and even shape the face.
Travis wholeheartedly agreed. “I look awful when I don’t have a beard,” he confessed. “I have the beard to hide that I have folds in my skin under my neck and that my face is actually very fat. That’s why I have a beard.”
