KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: Generosity is alive and well, as demonstrated by Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs teammates, who gifted the star tight end $120k worth of NFL memorabilia following a recent burglary.
To recap, Travis' $6 million mansion was robbed in October, leaving him devastated as several treasured possessions were stolen, including $100k worth of jewelry, $20k in cash, his first Super Bowl jersey, and a watch. Fortunately, the watch has since been recovered in Rhode Island.
Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs teammates gift him around $120k in sports memorabilia
According to sources speaking to The US Sun, Travis Kelce was handed a box after a team meeting and was urged to open it quickly.
To his surprise, inside the box were incredible replacements for his cherished collection. Among the items were jerseys from legends like Tom Brady, Ray Lewis, and Rob Gronkowski, as well as shirts from current stars like his teammate Patrick Mahomes and Saquon Barkley.
An insider told the outlet, "He opened the box and felt like a kid at Christmas. They are going straight to his man cave, where he loves to hang out. Those pieces are going to be so special for him. Travis couldn't stop saying thank you to everyone."
Everyone chipped in, with Travis' older brother, Jason Kelce, using his Eagles connections to secure one of Barkley’s shirts. The tipster revealed that the entire collection, which included 10 more jerseys, was worth around $120k.
The source added, "They are going straight to his man cave, where he loves to hang out. Those pieces are going to be so special for him. Travis couldn’t stop saying thank you to everyone."
Travis wasn't the only one targeted by thieves as Mahomes' property in Belton, Missouri, was also burglarized shortly after midnight on October 6.
Travis Kelce was left 'unsettled' by the burglary
Following the burglary of Travis Kelce's estate in Leawood, Kansas City, on October 7, sources shared how the incident affected him.
One insider revealed, "Travis was distraught because the thieves took sentimental items, including his first Super Bowl jersey."
The source also provided insight into the feelings of his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, and how the event unsettled her as well. "Having someone break into his private home left him unsettled. Taylor felt bad about what happened, even though she didn’t have many belongings there," they said.
The tipster continued, "She was more concerned for Travis and the Mahomes family." Despite having high-end designer bags and clothing stored at Travis' mansion, Taylor was fortunate not to lose any personal items.
"His teammates, friends, and family know that he has been very pissed about getting some of his favorites jerseys stolen during the robbery. So they made sure he's got some nice, new pieces to put into his collection," the source added about the gifts he received from his teammates.
Having said that, some outlets, such as the New York Post, claimed that while his teammates were generous, they didn't give him gifts worth $120k.
On the nature of the burglary, an insider shared, "This was a calculated break-in and Taylor and Travis are not taking any chances. The intruders knew exactly when the house would be empty and could easily see that she was at the game he was playing in."
The source added, "They knew how long they had to carry out the robbery based on when the game ended." After the incident, the couple stayed at a hotel and took drastic security measures, including installing a more advanced in-home security system and reinforcing locks.
