LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Former NFL quarterback Troy Aikman left fans stunned and sparked a flurry of reactions online after he mistakenly mixed up the names of brothers Travis and Jason Kelce

The Kelce brothers, known for their dominant presence in the NFL, are no strangers to the spotlight, but this gaffe added a new layer to their fame.

Aikman’s slip-up came shortly after Jason Kelce made headlines for his heated altercation with a college student, who made derogatory comments about Travis Kelce about his relationship with Taylor Swift.

Troy Aikman mixes up Kelce brothers' names during live-action

Troy Aikman and Joe Buck were calling the live action on the gridiron during the Week 10 matchup between the Chiefs and the Buccaneers when the NFL commentator made an unexpected slip-up. While commenting on a play by Travis Kelce, Aikman mistakenly referred to him as Jason Kelce.

Chiefs fans quickly caught the error, with one sharing a video of the moment and tweeting, "@Buck @TroyAikman yeah, pretty sure that's @tkelce, not @JasonKelce #ESPNMNF," to clarify the mix-up. This tweet helped clear up any confusion among viewers.

It’s important to note that Jason Kelce retired in March 2024, while Travis remains a standout player for the Chiefs. Aikman’s blunder didn’t sit well with Chiefs fans, especially given that the brothers have distinct roles and play for different teams.

Their physical differences and well-known bond—often displayed on their popular 'New Heights' podcast—only made the mix-up more surprising. The Kelce brothers frequently express their close relationship on the podcast.

Recently, Jason showed his protective side when he slammed a college student’s phone to the ground after the student made a homophobic slur about Travis about his relationship with Taylor Swift. That incident had already sparked plenty of attention, and Aikman’s mistake only added fuel to the fire.
