ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA: Former president Donald Trump made a shocking confession about his business practices that might not go well with voters who make ends meet by working overtime.

Speaking at a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, September 29, the GOP presidential nominee reportedly admitted he "hated" paying his workers overtime and would instead hire new employees.

"I know a lot about overtime. I hated to give overtime, I hated it. I'd get other people," Trump bragged, according to Mediaite.

Trump claims no overtime pay will be 'economically positive'

In the weekend rally aimed to woo the swing state voters ahead of the November 5 election, the real estate mogul went beyond offering his honest take on overtime pay by suggesting that not paying overtime would have a positive economic impact with regard to tax.

"I shouldn’t say this, but I’d get other people in. I wouldn’t pay. I hated. This is going to lead to a lot more," Trump continued.

"I think it’s going to be economically positive, but I’m not even doing it for that reason. I’m doing it because like, like the, you know, tax on overtime, it’s something so good," he added.

Earlier this month, Trump said that he would push for a proposal to exempt taxes on overtime pay if he defeated his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, in November.

The 45th president made the pitch to a rally crowd in Arizona, claiming the tax exemption would offer employees an incentive to work and would benefit the companies to hire more workers, as per CNN.

Nevertheless, making people's overtime work tax-free is not the only pledge Trump made during his neck-to-neck race against Harris. A similar promise related to tax cuts came in June while President Joe Biden was still in the picture, vying for a second White House term.

In a Las Vegas rally, the ex-president claimed he would eliminate taxes on tips that would benefit the service industry workers. Later, Harris also adopted the same policy, vowing to end federal taxation on tips if elected.

With only little over a month left for the presidential election, Trump and Harris are in a tighter race, with the Republican trailing behind with 46% support in national polling average to the Vice President's 49%, according to the latest New York Times/Siena polls. In addition, the Democratic party holds a slight lead in the battleground states of Wisconsin and Michigan.

Donald Trump blasted for admitting he 'hated' to pay employees overtime

Donald Trump's acknowledgment of his dislike of paying overtime to his workers sparked outrage on social media. Netizens slammed his ethics as a businessman, questioning how one could trust his economic plans.

"We always knew he was a cheater and a horrible businessman," a user said.

"Why would anyone vote for this grisly old man? Seriously, has there ever been a public figure so bereft of dignity, class or just basic human decency?" asked remarked.

"Worse than scabbing. He claims to be an Xtian but he ignores the teachings about holding back wages from his workers," added a third user.

"How stupid do people have to believe that this crook has their best interests in his heart. He thinks it’s funny he cheated his workers out of overtime," one user wrote.

"Trumps a grifter. Always has been. Always will be," someone else wrote.

"He is a complete cheating con man. Trust fund kid stiffing the working class his entire adult life," read a sixth response.

"He's admitting he stiffed his own workers so he could pay for his gold plated toilets. But of course. His entire economic plan is a giant tax cut for his millionaire and corporate friends. He fights for no one except himself," an individual said.

"Again, he's so demented that he says anything that shows up in his walnut sized brain no matter what any sane person would think and frankly his idiot, gullible, & ignorant supporters don't really care what he says," read another remark.
