WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump has established a seven-member 'Board of Peace' to oversee the territory’s reconstruction and governance, appointing prominent figures including Marco Rubio, Tony Blair, and Jared Kushner. Trump will chair the board, which is designed to provide strategic oversight, mobilize international resources, and ensure accountability as Gaza moves from conflict toward peace and development.

The White House described the initiative as “a framework to guide Gaza’s stabilization, governance, and reconstruction, in collaboration with Israel, key Arab nations, and the international community.” The effort follows a peace plan launched in October 2025 that helped secure a cessation of hostilities and the release of hostages.

The executive board includes US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and World Bank President Ajay Banga. Trump’s senior advisor Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff also join the founding members.

According to the White House, “Each executive board member will oversee a portfolio critical to Gaza’s stabilization, including governance capacity-building, regional relations, reconstruction, investment attraction, large-scale funding, and capital mobilization.” Trump praised the assembly, calling it “the Greatest and Most Prestigious Board ever assembled at any time, any place.”

Blair’s appointment draws on his prior experience as Quartet representative, which he left in 2015. Trump had previously remarked in October 2025, “I’ve always liked Tony, but I want to find out that he’s an acceptable choice to everybody.”

Senior advisors and military leadership named for Gaza operations

To support operations, Aryeh Lightstone and Josh Gruenbaum were appointed senior advisors to the board, managing day-to-day strategy and execution of the board’s mandate. Major General Jasper Jeffers was named Commander of the International Stabilization Force, responsible for establishing security and maintaining a durable, terror-free environment.

Palestinian technocrats to manage daily affairs in Gaza

Alongside the executive board, a 15-member Palestinian technocratic committee, led by Dr. Ali Sha’ath, will handle Gaza’s daily administration. The White House noted Dr. Sha’ath’s expertise in public administration, economic development, and international engagement, emphasizing his technocratic approach to governance.

Additional board members are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as the US-led framework seeks to maintain peace, rebuild infrastructure, and stabilize Gaza’s economy.
