PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former president Donald Trump promoted a false claim that 20% of Pennsylvania's mail-in ballots in the 2020 election were fraudulent, citing conservative political commentator Tucker Carlson's interview with an "election expert."

On Sunday, September 8, the GOP presidential nominee took to Truth Social and wrote, "An interview by Tucker Carlson of an election expert indicates that 20% of the Mail-In Ballots in Pennsylvania are fraudulent. Here we go again!"

In April, the former Fox News host interviewed nonprofit public policy think tank Heartland Institute's Justin Haskins, who amplified Trump's bogus election fraud claims, asserting that one in five voters confessed to cheating in the 2020 election.

Donald Trump asks FBI and attorney general to investigate mail-in ballots fraud

Citing Tucker Carlson's interview that aired months ago, Donald Trump called on the FBI and attorney general to investigate the allegations and urged the RNC to activate immediately.

"Where is the U.S. Attorney General and FBI to INVESTIGATE? Where is the Pennsylvania Republican Party? We will WIN Pennsylvania by a lot, unless the Dems are allowed to CHEAT," the MAGA leader wrote. "THE RNC MUST ACTIVATE, NOW!!!'

Following his defeat against President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, Trump and his allies falsely attributed his loss to mail-in ballot fraud in key battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, and Michigan, Mediaite reported.

What are false election fraud claims put forth in Tucker Carlson's interview?

In the interview with Tucker Carlson, "election expert" Haskins cited a study they conducted to prove whether people had resorted to voter fraud in 2020.

"We asked people a series of questions, the first of which is, or one of the first questions was, did you vote in the 2020 election and did you vote with an absentee ballot?" he asked.

Haskins further claimed that if the respondents answered yes to both queries, they followed up with other questions to understand voting behaviors without directly asking whether they committed voter fraud.

The guest added that 17% of people admitted to voting in a state where they are not permanent residents, which is illegal. And 21% responded yes to filling out a ballot for someone else, while 17% admitted to forging a signature for a friend or family member.

Citing these numbers, Haskins alleged that "at least one in five mail-in ballots involved some kind of fraudulent activity."

Donald Trump blasted for alleging mail-in ballot election fraud in Pennsylvania in 2020

Outraged at Donald Trump's false claims of mail-in ballot election fraud in the 2020 presidential election in Pennsylvania, netizens accused the former president of lying ahead of his November face-off with Vice President Kamala Harris.

"TRANSLATION: Trump knows he is losing Pennsylvania. Here we go again is right. More lies about election fraud," one social media user said.

"Nobody is cheating. You are a loser Donald and you know it," another added.

"That is propaganda that you fools will use to play victim on November 6th. What a foolish post to propose already, just like before, so the secret fake Electors scheme can come about.. well, truth will prevail again," one person wrote.

"Mail-in voting in Pennsylvania doesn't start for another 8 days. The lies are strong with Trump," commented another.

"Getting in your groundwork early you loser!" one individual remarked.

"Where was @realDonaldTrump to stand up to the PA GOP legislature in 2019 when they enacted universal absentee voting because they were too lazy & stupid to enact more stringent verification laws? Or in 2020 when their dumb policy was rolled out nationwide? Trump is a hypocrite," someone else said.

"GEEZ! You just don’t ever give up, the lies keep coming. Here we go again listening to your constant whining and lies. Give it up! America it’s time to move on!" another commented.
