Trump claims Xi Jinping praised MAGA comeback as a ‘virtual miracle’
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump on Friday, May 15 claimed Chinese President Xi Jinping praised America’s turnaround under his leadership, saying the Chinese leader described Trump’s political comeback and the country’s economic rebound as nothing short of a “virtual miracle.”
Speaking to reporters, Trump recounted what he described as a striking private and public assessment from Xi about the state of the United States under the previous administration compared to where it stands now.
.@POTUS: President Xi "said the U.S. was declining for the last four years, and he said what President Trump has done in the last 15, 16 months has been virtually a miracle. He said we have the hottest country anywhere in the world." pic.twitter.com/Mxljd6tHgO

Trump claims Xi praised 'MAGA miracle'
“He said the United States was declining for the last four years,” Trump told reporters.
“And he said what President Trump has done in the last 15 or 16 months has been virtually a miracle.”
Trump continued, saying Xi believed the US had moved from what he described as national decline to once again becoming the world’s strongest economy and most influential global power.
“He said we have the hottest country anywhere in the world,” Trump added. “But he said it was a seriously declining country before.”
The remarks come as Trump continues to spotlight his relationship with Xi during his ongoing diplomatic push in Asia, where trade, Middle East tensions, and military flashpoints have dominated discussions.
.@POTUS says he discussed Taiwan and Iran with President Xi: "He does not want to see a fight for independence... I didn’t make a comment on it... on Iran, it’s very interesting. He feels strongly they can’t have a nuclear weapon... and he wants them to open up the strait." pic.twitter.com/SfV0fOgyHK

Taiwan, Iran, and Hormuz dominate talks
Beyond the praise Trump said he received, the president also revealed that much of his conversation with Xi centered on some of the most volatile global flashpoints currently facing both powers.
Trump said Taiwan was one of the most sensitive issues raised during their talks, describing Xi as deeply concerned about any movement toward formal independence.
“President Xi and I talked a lot about Taiwan,” Trump said. “He does not want to see a fight for independence because that would be a very strong confrontation.”
Trump said he listened to Xi’s position but stopped short of publicly signaling any change in Washington’s stance.
Iran also featured prominently in the discussion, according to Trump, who said Xi made clear that Beijing opposes Tehran obtaining nuclear weapons.
“He feels strongly they can’t have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said. “He said that very strongly.”
Trump added that Xi also wants shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to remain open as tensions in the region continue to disrupt energy markets and commercial shipping.
.@POTUS on Iran's latest proposal: "I looked at it, and if I don't like the first sentence, I just throw it away... if they have any nuclear of any form, I don't read the rest of their letter." pic.twitter.com/Kjm8nLAwBf

Trump hints Iran talks remain alive
The president also addressed ongoing negotiations with Iran, suggesting the latest proposal from Tehran failed to meet his standards.
“I looked at it, and if I don’t like the first sentence, I just throw it away,” Trump said, referring to an Iranian proposal currently under review.
He said the administration remains focused on securing what he called “real guarantees” that Iran’s nuclear capabilities will be permanently dismantled.
Trump also claimed Iranian officials had privately acknowledged that only the United States and China possess the technical capability to remove certain nuclear infrastructure.
“They agreed to it, then they took it back,” Trump said. “But they’ll agree eventually.”
