The video, shared by Trump Jr., showed the president gently swaying to the beat while smiling and engaging with the audience. The costumed character, identified as Michelangelo, briefly took center stage alongside Vanilla Ice, drawing cheers from the crowd as the celebration continued into the early hours of the new year.

The upbeat moment stood in contrast to how Trump spent the earlier part of the holiday, which included a series of heated posts on social media following legal setbacks tied to his administration’s handling of National Guard deployments in several Democratic-led cities.

Trump attacks George Clooney

Earlier in the day, Trump took aim at actor George Clooney in a series of posts on Truth Social. He mocked Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, following reports that the couple had become French citizens.

“Good News! George and Amal Clooney, two of the worst political prognosticators of all time, have officially become citizens of France,” Trump wrote, adding that the country was facing major challenges due to immigration policies.

Trump also referenced Clooney's political commentary during the 2024 election cycle, claiming the actor turned against President Joe Biden following a debate and later supported Vice President Kamala Harris.

He went on to downplay Clooney’s acting career, writing that the actor “got more publicity for politics than he did for his very few, and totally mediocre, movies.”

Trump orders National Guard withdrawal

Trump also announced that National Guard troops had been pulled from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland, while warning that federal forces could return if unrest resurfaces.

In a Truth Social post, he said the Guard played a key role in stabilising those cities and claimed crime had dropped as a direct result of federal intervention.

“We are removing the National Guard from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland, despite the fact that CRIME has been greatly reduced by having these great Patriots in those cities,” Trump wrote.

The move followed weeks of legal challenges and political opposition surrounding the deployment of federal forces in Democratic-led cities.
