Trump takes subtle jab at Joe Biden after buying new Tesla: 'You think he could get into that car?'

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump took a subtle jab at former President Joe Biden after he purchased a brand new red Tesla and asked if his predecessor "could get into that car?"
The president bought the EV in an attempt to show support to his ally, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who recently faced backlash from people for his involvement in the administration and his statements backing far-right views, as per CBS News.
The first two months of Trump’s second run as president have been brutal for the stock market, with Tesla emerging as one of the biggest casualties. The EV giant's share has tumbled nearly 48 percent since President Trump’s inauguration on January 20, according to Forbes.

As the red Tesla arrived at the White House, Trump sat inside the car and took a good look at the EV. He said that everything inside the car felt like a computer, per the outlet.

Earlier in the day during the press conference, Trump vowed to take strong action against people vandalizing Tesla vehicles, and stated that they would be classified as "domestic terrorists", per the Independent.
While speaking outside the White House alongside Musk, the POTUS called Tesla "a great American company" and warned that those targeting it would "go through hell".

While referring to protesters who have vandalized Tesla dealerships and charging stations, Trump said, "I'm going to stop them because they're harming a great American company. I've stuck up for a lot of American companies."
He added, "I do favors for all when you heard an American company, especially a company like this, applies so many jobs that others are unable to do, when you do that, those people are going to go through a big problem when we catch them."

Trump holds handwritten Tesla ‘sales pitch’ at White House event
On Tuesday, a viral photo captured Donald Trump holding a note that read like a Tesla sales pitch - complete with price points and financing options - as the POTUS checked out Musk’s electric cars parked on the South Lawn.
During the press conference, Trump was seen holding a copy of his prepared speech and a handwritten note listing Tesla prices, something like a full-on sales pitch, per Business Insider.

A photographer clicked a picture that revealed part of the note which read, "Teslas can be purchased as low as $299/month or $35K."
Interestingly, even though there are tax incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act for buying EVs, the president may not qualify for them as under US law, presidents make $400,000 a year which is well above the $300,000 income cap to get the tax credit.
