QUANTICO, VIRGINIA: President Donald Trump took a swipe at former President Joe Biden on Tuesday, September 30, mocking his frequent stumbles and boasting that he navigates stairs with more care.

Speaking to top military brass, including generals and flag officers from around the world, Trump used the moment to highlight what he called his restoration of America’s global prestige.

At a high-profile military meeting in Virginia, Donald Trump claimed he restored America’s global prestige while taking aim at Joe Biden for his frequent physical stumbles.

“We were not respected with Biden,” Trump said. “They looked at him falling down stairs every day. Every day the guy’s falling down stairs.” Speaking to an audience of generals and flag officers from around the world, Trump described his own approach to avoiding such mishaps: “I’m very careful, you know, when I walk down stairs, like I’m on stairs … I walk very slowly. Nobody has to set a record. Just try not to fall, because it doesn’t work out well.”

He added: “A few of our presidents have fallen and it became a part of their legacy. We don’t want that. Walk nice and easy. You don’t have to set any records. Be cool. Be cool when you walk down. But don’t bop down the stairs.”

In 2024, Trump targeted Biden’s stumbles by sharing a side-by-side video comparison of the two men navigating steps. The video has resurfaced online following Trump’s latest remarks.

On one side, Biden is seen ascending the stairs of Air Force One, where he stumbles after just a few steps, using his hand and then his knee to steady himself before continuing. On the other side, Trump carefully and slowly climbs the same stairs, exactly as he described in his speech.

Pete Hegseth announces changes in military policy

The event was organized by newly appointed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who gathered hundreds of military leaders to unveil a sweeping shift in policy. Hegseth announced new physical fitness standards that would be either gender-neutral or aligned with male benchmarks, along with the elimination of “woke” practices in the military.

High on the agenda for the allies will be ascertaining how the U.S. intends to influence the trajectory of the war in Ukraine, as the conflict nears the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion. “The era of politically correct, overly sensitive don’t-hurt-anyone’s-feelings leadership ends right now at every level,” Hegseth declared. He also criticized current fitness and grooming policies, environmental regulations, and the inclusion of transgender troops.

Hegseth vowed to ease disciplinary rules and reduce hazing protections, urging any dissenting military leaders to “do the honorable thing and resign.”
